Chapter 1487 - 1410: Her Child
She rarely saw such a candid expression from someone like him. Somewhat taken aback, she followed it with a gentle smile: "You promised—you won’t forget."
Six words, like sweet honey, poured into Jun Mochan’s heart.
"Baby, come here." Jun Mochan beckoned to the little figure watching him eagerly from the chair.
The little one climbed down from the chair, his short legs working hard as he ran as fast as he could to Jun Mochan’s side, wrapping himself around his leg: "Daddy."
Jun Mochan held him in one arm and his phone in the other: "Baby, say hello to Mommy."
"Mama," he called out in a soft, childish voice, using a word he had never uttered before.
The young child, his features still undeveloped, carried traces of baby fat on his round, pink cheeks, making him irresistibly cute.
There were hints of Jun Mochan’s likeness in his brows and eyes.
Is this her son?
The child she carried for ten months and gave birth to?
Ye Ranran felt an odd sensation, yet, surprisingly, she didn’t feel the slightest resistance. Blood ties truly are one of the most mysterious connections in the world.
"Ba...by." Ye Ranran struggled to utter the two words.
The child, oblivious to her awkwardness, said, "Mama, I miss you so much. When are you coming back?"
"I’ll be back in a little over a week," Ye Ranran tugged at the corners of her lips, trying her best to smile warmly and sincerely.
"Mama won’t leave Baby behind, right?" The child asked, his big eyes wide and questioning.
"Of course not. Once I’m back, we’ll naturally be living together."
Father and son exchanged a knowing look and shared a quiet smile.
Jun Mochan held the little one even tighter. Truly, his affections for this child were not in vain.
"Mommy, I know so many things now! When you come back, I’ll tell you all about them, okay?"
Seeing the pride on the child’s face, Ye Ranran’s eyes softened with a smile: "Okay."
"It’s late now. Time to sleep." Jun Mochan put him down gently. "Daddy and Mommy have things to discuss. Go find Uncle Butler on your own."
After talking to Ye Ranran on the phone, the little one was completely content and immediately nodded, agreeing without hesitation: "Okay."
When he exited the room, he even closed the door carefully, his impeccable manners shining through in these subtle moments.
"Your son is wonderful," Ye Ranran remarked with emotion.
Jun Mochan frowned: "What do you mean ’my son’? He’s our son."
"I still feel like I’m dreaming—none of this feels real." If this wasn’t a dream, then how could something so fantastical be happening?
"I understand—it’s difficult for you to accept all at once. But this is the truth. Let me show you something else."
Jun Mochan handed her the marriage certificate and the paternity results.
Looking at the paternity results that confirmed him as the father, Ye Ranran’s eyes welled up with mist.
"I’m showing you these just to make you believe. If your heart needs time to come to terms with it all, I’m sorry." He was willing to give her time to accept it, but he absolutely refused to let her keep deceiving herself.
Ye Ranran didn’t speak for a while. When the atmosphere became slightly tense, she finally broke the silence: "But I can’t remember any of it."
"Do you want to remember?"
"I do."
Jun Mochan’s deep eyes, dark as ink, seemed to reflect the gentle shimmer of moonlight, holding a quiet radiance within.
"Go find Shen Yuzhe. He’s now at..." Jun Mochan lowered his voice, giving Ye Ranran Shen Yuzhe’s phone number and address.
Ye Ranran noted down the address and phone number. She stared at them blankly for a long time, her mind replaying the images of the marriage certificate and paternity report she had just seen.
