Chapter 1485 - 1408: Wild Guesses
"Don’t worry about her, I’ll help her." Her attitude made Sun Yi very annoyed, as if Fu Rong couldn’t live without her.
"Then, Miss Sun, you can tell him that if he agrees, I won’t object." Ye Ranran’s pink cheeks were adorned with continual smiles, though not a shred of it reached her eyes.
Sun Yi was ultimately spoiled, unable to understand the advantages and disadvantages of the current situation. Sooner or later, she was bound to cause trouble this way.
But it wasn’t Ye Ranran’s concern. She had given the necessary reminders, and if Sun Yi chose to ignore them, there was nothing she could do about it.
Ye Ranran picked up the bag next to her. "I have something to do, I’m leaving first."
"If I talk it over with him, you must immediately switch departments."
So persistent. Ye Ranran smiled faintly. With her back turned, she said, "Sure, as long as he asks me to leave, I’ll walk away immediately."
Once Ye Ranran left, Sun Yi immediately called Fu Rong. "Ah Rong, when will you have time? I’d like to see you."
"I’ll come to find you when I’m free," Fu Rong replied, his tone icy.
Even through the phone, Sun Yi could feel the cold detachment.
"Where are you now? I’ll come to you, how about that?" If the mountain won’t come to her, she’ll go to the mountain—no big deal.
"I’m very busy." Fu Rong hung up the phone directly.
Listening to the dial tone coming from the receiver, Sun Yi froze. It took her a full two minutes to snap out of it. She angrily slammed the phone.
The phone collided with the wall, and with a loud "bang," it shattered into pieces.
Today was the first day of condolence visits, and everyone had to attend. Ye Ranran left the hotel and headed straight over.
The funeral car was driving very slowly. The roads on both sides were crowded with people. To make it easier for everyone to bid farewell to the president, the car was practically crawling at a snail’s pace.
When Ye Ranran arrived, the funeral car had not yet arrived; everyone was sitting in their cars waiting.
Just as she parked the car, Fu Rong summoned her over.
He stood under a tree, looking in the direction from which the funeral car would come. Clad in a black shirt and black trousers, the stern color on him shed unexpectedly into an ethereal quality.
This man truly was heaven’s favorite.
"Where did you go?"
The interrogative tone was akin to probing for proof.
"I went to see Miss Sun."
"She didn’t trouble you, did she?" Thinking of Sun Yi’s call, Fu Rong’s thin lips pressed together, his gaze growing even colder.
Ye Ranran had never understood his thoughts and now was too weary to bother guessing. She shook her head. "Never."
He finally turned his head, a trace of scrutiny in his gaze. "What did you say to her?"
"I said that the item was sent on your instructions. She heard that and was happy, so naturally, she didn’t make things difficult for me."
"Learning how to lie now, have you?" His eyes grew darker and more unfathomable.
"That’s the truth; how was it a lie?" She sought honest feedback.
Fu Rong gazed toward the distance. "Xiao Cai, stop always opposing me."
"And you stop saying things I don’t understand. You asked me to buy the necklace. I got it and gave it to you. Then you instructed me to hand it over to her, and she happily accepted it. I followed your orders on every step and told her exactly as it was. So explain this to me—how is that lying?"
She truly had enough of his passive-aggressive attitude.
He lowered his head slightly, a cold glint in his eyes. Picking up on the danger, Ye Ranran instinctively retreated a step back as Fu Rong strode forcefully closer. "Xiao Cai, we’ve known each other for so many years. Do you think I can’t tell if you’re lying or not?"
How naive could one be to believe he’d buy her words?
"Stop assuming you know me so well, and don’t attempt to deduce my thoughts." Ye Ranran met his gaze without fear.
