Chapter 1478 - 1401: Ten-Year Good Friends
"Remember to rest, don’t push yourself too hard. If you feel unwell, make sure to tell me." He handed the medicine to her.
She took it and nodded, "Got it."
"I’ve already arranged for your brother to come pick you up."
Ye Ranran, who was about to get out of bed, froze in her movements. "Alright, I understand."
She got out of bed, walked to the living room, and sat on the sofa. The house was decorated according to Fu Rong’s preferences, but the materials were bought by her.
She remembered being happy about it for a long time, thinking she finally had a chance to be involved in his life, only to later realize he only saw her as a housekeeper.
Tang Sheng poured her a glass of water. "Have some water."
"Why are you being so polite?" She brushed aside her chaotic thoughts and managed to joke with him again.
"If you weren’t looking so sickly, I wouldn’t want to go out of my way." Tang Sheng sat down next to her.
That face—so familiar yet somehow distant. Even he wasn’t sure if what he was doing was right or wrong.
He didn’t know if his friend wanted to continue living like this.
Ye Ranran’s gaze landed on the guitar hanging on the wall. Suddenly intrigued, she asked, "How’s your guitar practice going? Play me a song."
"Not great," he admitted, utterly uninterested in embarrassing himself in front of her. "Besides, you need to rest. I don’t want to be too loud."
"If you can’t play, just admit it. Stop making so many excuses." She mocked him.
Her words made his face flush red, but he didn’t argue back.
Seeing him look as though he’d love to dig a hole and disappear, Ye Ranran got even more excited. "Do you remember the four words I gave you when you bought it back then?"
As a personal doctor, Tang Sheng didn’t interact with many people, hence he didn’t have many friends. The only one he frequently kept in touch with was Ye Ranran.
During that time, he had developed feelings for a girl and wanted to sing her a love song. He’d heard that girls liked romance, so he thought singing while playing his guitar would be extra romantic, right?
So, he asked Ye Ranran to accompany him to buy a guitar. Ranran was busy at the time, there was no way she could spare the time for him.
But he pestered her day after day.
That period became her most frustrating—dealing with Fu Rong’s petty troubles during the day and putting up with Tang Sheng’s persistence at night.
Eventually, unable to tolerate it any longer, she finished up her work and reluctantly agreed to go with him.
Listening to his bold declarations back then, she gifted him four words: "Idle and bored to death."
Clearly Tang Sheng remembered too. His brows furrowed slightly. "It’s not like I haven’t been learning. I just haven’t had the time."
"All I know is that the girl you liked already got married."
He hadn’t even confessed before hearing that she was engaged.
Back then, he clung to her, heartbroken for ages. She even drank a bottle of wine with him in comfort.
The next day she was late and punished, dealing with memories that were nothing short of miserable.
Tang Sheng couldn’t take it anymore and waved her off. "Enough, enough. Once I learn properly, I’ll play for you immediately."
"You have to play under my window, and when I stick my head out, you’ve got to dance too."
"Don’t push your luck!" He pointed a trembling finger at her.
"Such a lack of sincerity."
Tang Sheng immediately wilted. "I’m definitely in debt to you."
"So how do you plan to pay me back?"
Tang Sheng: "..." Shameless, aren’t you!
Wen Li arrived shortly after. Sweat dripped from his hair as he spotted Ye Ranran. Without hesitation, he strode over, his gaze sweeping over her like a searchlight.
Ye Ranran remembered that the distance between downstairs and upstairs wasn’t very far, yet his face was drenched in sweat. That could only mean he had sprinted up here.
