Chapter 401 - 397 This Woman, Really Stupid (Part 2)
During her time with the Angel City film crew, Sophie Smith received far better treatment than she did with the City of Desire crew.
When filming City of Desire, nobody liked her; they even excluded her.
Even though the crew still gossips about her behind her back now, at least they aren’t sarcastic to her face; outwardly, they are still respectful.
Sophie decided not to expose these two-faced behaviors; one should be sensible, because if she exposes them, she might be isolated again within the crew, which wouldn’t do her any good.
Of course, according to Julia Brown, there are two reasons why they don’t dare say anything unpleasant to her face.
The first is that Wyatt Sterling once mentioned to the crew that she was his personally selected lead actress, and he doesn’t want to hear any gossip. Wyatt Sterling is the producer of this play, so naturally, people wouldn’t ignore his words.
"What’s the second?" Sophie asked Julia.
"The second is..." Julia scratched her head, "The second reason is President Land."
Asher Land?
How did he get involved? To avoid suspicion, she hadn’t let Asher Land meet anyone from the crew; he’s still waiting in the car.
"Here’s how it went..." Seeing Sophie’s expression change, Julia quickly explained, "Wasn’t it last time that I overheard a few young actors from the crew talking badly about you behind your back? They said some really nasty things, saying..." Julia hesitated.
"What did they say?" Sophie was indifferent; she had heard it all before.
"Well, they said you..." Julia pondered on how to make the words sound better before conveying them to Sophie.
"Go ahead and tell me exactly what they said."
"They said you were just a pretty face, using your looks to seduce men; they even said you were probably kept by President Land because someone had seen you and President Land attending a dinner together..." Julia’s voice grew quieter as she carefully glanced at Sophie’s expression.
She simply had a faint, serene smile on her lips, completely composed.
Actually, the relationship between Sophie and Asher Land wasn’t a secret in the agency, but no one there saw Sophie as being kept by Asher Land; they believed Asher cared for and loved Sophie...
Julia couldn’t stand hearing those people gossip like that, so she went up to them and vividly recounted many ’stories’ about Sophie and Asher Land.
Yes, stories.
Asher Land and Sophie Smith had been through so much together. Every time Sophie needed him the most, he would always appear promptly; if Sophie was merely his kept woman, she certainly wouldn’t receive such treatment.
Sure enough, after listening to Julia’s elaborate tales, their eyes showed much fear.
Julia was very satisfied with their reaction and said if she heard them gossiping about Sophie behind her back again, she would tell Asher Land exactly what they said.
As a result, they naturally didn’t dare let her hear anything.
"Sophie, those women gossiping are just as unclean themselves, yet they have the audacity to talk about you?" Julia stood up for Sophie, "They’re just jealous of you because they haven’t met a man like President Land who treats them as well."
They’re just jealous of you because they haven’t met a man like President Land who treats them as well.
Sophie’s smile deepened; indeed, she was so fortunate to have met a man like Asher Land.
