Chapter 339 - 335: The Conspiracy of Birth (5)
Asher Land walked into the master bedroom and saw her sitting on the bed, staring blankly at something. She didn’t even notice him coming in.
"Waiting for me?" He sat down on the bed, lifting her chin with his large hand.
"I just can’t sleep." Her voice was a bit hoarse as she moved his hand away and looked elsewhere.
"Are you not used to sleeping without me warming the bed?" He kept talking to himself. He understood her temper a bit more now, realizing that sometimes she would get upset with him for reasons he hadn’t figured out yet.
However, he had promised to get along well with her, so now he should be more patient.
"Honestly, if you have physical needs, just tell me. I’ll satisfy you, don’t let that so-called agreement hold you back..."
"I don’t, no need to trouble yourself."
Asher Land felt a bit frustrated, but he certainly did!
He counted the days every day, hoping that the agreement would end soon.
"How have you been eating lately?"
"Hmm?" Sophie Smith didn’t understand why he suddenly asked this.
"Come, let me see if you’ve lost weight." Without waiting for her response, he pulled her to his side.
His mischievous hand suddenly snuck inside her pajamas, rubbing restlessly.
"Still the same feel, not thinner." He seriously concluded.
"Asher Land!" Sophie Smith found it laughable and infuriating how shameless this man could be.
"You can’t lose weight there. By the way, Nanny Garcia said your appetite’s been off lately?"
Yes, her appetite was off, every time she ate, she felt nauseous.
Her hand unintentionally brushed over her stomach, feeling a little down.
"Is the food not to your taste? I’ll ask Nanny Garcia to change the cook tomorrow."
"Asher Land, you, don’t be so nice to me." She lowered her head, not daring to look him in the eye.
She thought, in his eyes, she must seem pathetic.
He decided to be nice to her, yet there she was saying these pretentious things.
"Are you afraid I’ll be too nice and you’ll fall for me, or have you already fallen for me?" He continued teasing her, admitting he talked a bit too much that night.
"Stop joking." She laughed lightly, pretending to be indifferent, "I’m a bit tired, I’ll sleep first."
Asher Land didn’t make things difficult for her and let her go to sleep.
He lay down beside her as well. She turned her back to him, afraid that if she was careless, he’d notice the uneasy emotions hidden in her heart.
...
Sophie Smith woke up, initially thinking Asher Land would have left for work. But when she turned over, she found him still lying there, sleeping soundly.
"Why aren’t you getting up? Aren’t you going to work?" She spoke casually, not caring if he was listening.
In truth, his sleep was very light. She bet that even the slightest movement from her would wake him.
Sure enough, he opened his eyes.
"Seeing you in a bad mood, I decided to reluctantly stay home with you today."
"I’m in a bad mood? Am I?" She cautiously hid it.
She had been tossing and turning all night, not sleeping at all. If she wasn’t troubled, why would she be like this?
"Get up and have some breakfast downstairs."
Sophie Smith nodded in agreement, changed clothes, tidied up in the bathroom, and followed him downstairs.
But looking at the food on the table, she felt another wave of discomfort in her stomach for no reason.
