Noble Pampering: Demon CEO's Relentless Entanglement

Chapter 276 - 272: It’s a picnic, not a field battle (1)

Irene Morton walked hesitantly in front of Asher Land, but was reluctant to sit down.

"What’s wrong?" he asked.

Irene hesitated for a long time but finally spoke up.

"I’m not feeling well, I have to go back first. You and Sister Sophie have fun here," Irene mumbled.

"You were fine just now, how come you’re not feeling well all of a sudden?"

Irene’s face flushed red. Did she really have to tell Asher Land that her ’monthly visitor’ came early?

"It’s just a stomachache."

Asher Land thought for a while and eventually nodded.

"Then you should ask Robert Williams to take you back."

Just as Asher Land finished speaking, Nanny Garcia stood up immediately, "I’ll go back with Miss Irene."

How could she bear to be the third wheel here for the young master?

"You’re leaving too?" Asher Land asked, frowning.

"Yes, Miss Irene isn’t feeling well, and there’s no one to take care of her in the car. Robert is a man and often clumsy; I wouldn’t trust leaving Miss Irene alone with him."

Asher Land pondered and, having no other choice, nodded in agreement.

Thus, a picnic meant for five ended with just Sophie Smith and Asher Land remaining.

Sophie Smith awkwardly poured a glass of juice, paused, and then raised her eyes to glance at Asher Land.

"If you don’t want to stay here with me, we can go back with them."

"Which eye of yours sees that I don’t want to?" he retorted. In fact, he wished for nothing more than to be alone with her.

The two sat on the grass, occasionally chatting a bit. Sophie lay down, looking up at the blue sky and white clouds, feeling suddenly very good. She happily smiled and closed her eyes.

It was peaceful all around, although occasionally there were clear bird calls from unknown sources.

Suddenly, Asher Land changed his mind. He quietly moved aside, took out his phone, and dialed Robert Williams’ number.

"No need to pick us up today. We’ve decided to camp here. Um, yes, come by tomorrow morning at seven."

Having said that, Asher Land hung up the phone.

Time passed unknowingly, and it was already evening. The evening view brought a different charm compared to daytime. Sophie looked at her watch; it was already so late, why hadn’t Robert come to pick them up?

"Aren’t you going to call Robert?" Sophie was unaware that Asher Land had told Robert not to come.

"Maybe he has something to attend to and doesn’t have time to come over right now."

What could he possibly need to do? His sole duty was to serve Asher Land, wasn’t it?

"You can call him to hurry him up..." It was so late, and being in the suburbs made her a bit scared.

"I mean, Sophie, do you always have to be unreasonable? People have things to do, so why are you rushing him?" Asher Land asserted righteously.

Alright, whatever she did today seemed wrong in his eyes.

Sophie hugged her knees, didn’t speak, and quietly waited.

But as she waited and waited, it was already eight in the evening, and Robert still hadn’t come. Eight o’clock in the suburbs was different from eight in the city — there was no light, no noise, and no hustle, somewhat eerily quiet.

"What about Robert..."

"He’s not coming," Asher Land stood up, took a flashlight, "Come over and help me with the light. Looks like we’ll be camping here tonight." Asher Land picked up the tent Robert had left nearby and prepared to set it up temporarily.
