Chapter 241 - 240: For Her, He Is Willing to Change Anything (Part 2)
Seeing that she hadn’t opened her eyes for a long time, he once again felt gloriously ignored.
So, with his tall figure, he sat down next to her, stretched his long arm, and pulled her into his arms. Sophie Smith was forced to open her eyes.
"Does your expression mean you don’t want to see me?" he asked, frowning.
"Huh?" Was she being that obvious?
"Are you tired of me?" Asher Land stared at her face and asked word by word.
"Why are you stealing my lines today?" Isn’t that something she should say? Hearing it from him was quite weird.
"Can’t I just ask casually?"
He used every means to force her to stay by his side. She must hate him, so sometimes she didn’t even want to spare him a glance. Somehow, today he loved to let his imagination run wild.
Sophie didn’t say anything. She had long lost herself now. These topics were always so heavy, pressing on her in a way that made it hard to breathe.
The two sat quietly on the bench under the sun, and later perhaps the warm sunshine made her sleepy, as she leaned on his shoulder, and eventually, she fell asleep.
Asher Land was afraid of disturbing her, so his body was a bit stiff, not daring to move around.
The servants passing by gathered in groups in distant corners, cautiously gossiping.
"Suddenly I realize that the young master and Miss Smith really suit each other, look, they truly are enviable."
"Really didn’t expect the young master to have such a tender side."
"It’s just a pity that his tenderness is reserved for one person."
"..."
Yes, he knew it himself, his tenderness would only be for one person.
...
Irene Morton was packing her luggage in the room. Despite Sophie’s repeated persuasion, Irene was still determined to leave.
"Irene, are you really not staying any longer? Why don’t you stay a while longer?" Sophie always felt close to Irene, so she tried hard to retain her.
But when she said this, Irene was somewhat displeased. Hearing her tone, she seemed like the hostess of the Land Family. After all, not everyone had the privilege to invite others to stay at the Land Family.
"Where’s Brother Asher?" Irene looked around the room and went to the corridor railing to look down at the living room but didn’t see Asher Land’s figure.
"He went to work."
"Oh." Irene replied lightly, still feeling a bit disappointed. She was leaving today, and he didn’t even think to see her off?
Irene dragged her suitcase all the way outside, appearing a bit struggling.
"Irene, let me help you." Sophie said, just about to help her carry the suitcase, but Irene blocked the suitcase in front.
"No need, thanks." Sophie felt a bit helpless. She didn’t know what was wrong with Irene, why she suddenly became so resistant to her.
"Then I’ll go downstairs to call the driver to take you to the airport."
"Are you eager to chase me out of the Land Family?" Irene snorted coldly and turned her head aside.
"Irene, what are you talking about!" Sophie was also somewhat unhappy. She had tried again and again to retain her but refused every time. She kindly wanted to help her carry her luggage, but she also rejected her. She swore she didn’t want to drive her out of the Land Family.
"Isn’t what I said true?" Irene’s lips curled into a mocking smile. "You now cling to Brother Asher every day, making him focus all his attention on you..."
Oh, she understood. Apparently, Irene was bothered by her relationship with Asher Land.
But, regarding this issue, she didn’t know how to explain.
