Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife – o

Chapter 2415 - 671: Who Is the Traitor? (Part 4)

"Grandmother, how could we possibly use a fake necklace to deceive you? Someone must have tampered with it behind our backs. Grandmother, let Father investigate and give you an explanation, what do you think?" Edith asked cautiously.

The entire room was silent, everyone held their tongues. Durant’s cold sweat had already soaked his clothes, only waiting for Queen Freyno’s judgment.

"Investigate immediately, I want results in an hour."

Durant nodded repeatedly, immediately called the Butler to have him investigate the matter thoroughly.

The ballroom was unusually quiet, the queen sat at the head, her face calm. Edith and Meg stood on either side, not daring to make a sound. Durant was anxious and silently prayed in his heart that results would be found. Everyone’s expressions varied, some worried, some looking smug, some indifferent. Emory stood at the back of the crowd, holding a wine glass, coldly watching everything, silently curling his lips.

The Butler moved quickly, soon appearing at the hotel’s entrance with a young man in custody. After undergoing thorough and strict inspection, the two arrived at the banquet scene.

"Your Majesty the Queen, Mr. Durant, the person who swapped the Pearl Necklace has been found. It’s this person," the Butler bowed respectfully and said.

Durant finally felt relieved as he looked at the man bound, frowningly asked, "Who is he?"

"Mr. Durant, he is an administrator responsible for guarding the treasury, has been working for the Durant Family for seven or eight years," the Butler replied.

At this moment, the queen looked at the young man and suddenly spoke.

"Why did you switch the Pearl Necklace?"

The young man shuddered, the queen’s aura was beyond his endurance. He glanced at the queen, trembling, and quickly lowered his head.

"Your, Your Majesty the Queen, I was greedy for a moment. A while ago, the gift Mr. Durant intended for you was stolen, so he went to the warehouse to find these as substitutes. I saw the Pearl Necklace looked good and got greedy, so I secretly swapped a few pearls. I, I really didn’t mean to... Your Majesty the Queen..."

The young man’s voice grew quieter, finally breaking into soft sobs. The atmosphere in the hall did not lighten despite the truth being revealed; instead, it became heavier.

His words revealed a fatal piece of information—Durant’s original gift for the queen was poorly protected and stolen, yet to save trouble, he found some dusty old pieces from the warehouse!

No matter how precious they were, items from the warehouse were unused and abandoned!

Durant’s vision darkened, not expecting the administrator to reveal such a fatal fact at once. He glanced at the queen, heart pounding, immediately dropped to one knee.

"Your Majesty the Queen, I hadn’t had the chance to report this to you! I intended to recover the jewelry to present to you, but due to time constraints, I had no choice... Your Majesty the Queen, I apologize profoundly!"

Edith chimed in, "Grandmother, Father truly didn’t mean to. He had good intentions but was robbed, please don’t blame him."

Meg also butted in repeatedly, trying to smooth over the situation.

After a while, the silent queen suddenly stood up. She glanced at the Durant family, her expression indescribable.

"Emory, help me back, I’m tired."

Emory set down the wine glass, walked in from outside the crowd, supported Queen Freyno’s arm, nodded to Durant and the others, and escorted the queen out of the hall.

Durant remained on one knee, his entire body limp. What did the queen mean? Was she choosing Emory over Edith?
