"You’re making it sound so serious, you’ve been so kind to me, and my parents know it too. They couldn’t possibly blame you, please don’t overthink it!" Kong Shi of course knew that Old Lady An was joking. She felt incredibly fortunate to have married into the An Family, with a husband who adored her and in-laws who treated her with genuine kindness. "What about Zisheng?" Kong Shi found it odd, wondering why An Zisheng hadn’t come back yet.
"He got held up with something, he’s on his way now, almost here. We won’t wait for him, let’s start eating to avoid getting hungry." Unlike the typical mother-in-law, Old Lady An was very understanding and wouldn’t make the foolish mistake of not starting the meal just because her son wasn’t home yet.
"Alright, we’ll eat while we wait." Kong Shi obediently followed Old Lady An’s suggestion.
At the dining table, Old Master An took the head seat, with Old Lady An sitting beside him, and Kong Shi to the right of Old Lady An.
"Zhihang and Zhiyan are really something too, always busy outside, never knowing to come back for a meal," Old Lady An commented, feeling the dinner table was a little too quiet.
"They’re young and it’s their time to be ambitious, they don’t have time to come back for meals. Don’t always bring this up in front of them, so as not to pressure them," Old Master An said, lifting his head from the newspaper, taking a sip of his soup, and speaking to Old Lady An.
"Yes, yes, you’re right! It’s just that I find it quiet here! Aren’t you worried though? Zhihang and Zhiyan are both twenty-eight and still don’t have girlfriends. One’s always running to the company and the other to the troops. When will I get to hold a great-grandchild?" Old Lady An expressed her helplessness. Her grandsons were too outstanding for their own good, handsome and capable, with a bunch of women trying to latch onto them, yet these two didn’t give any of them a second glance.
