Chapter 509 - 508: Dowry
Ruth Wilcox saw Yusuf Zuck’s frozen face, and she was both annoyed and amused. Of course, the clever Ruth didn’t burst his bubble right then, but instead picked up Yusuf’s teacup and took a sip before saying, "Isn’t the little nurse the old man’s goddaughter? What are you so nervous about?"
"Cough, yeah, yeah, yeah." Yusuf nodded repeatedly, trying to cover his embarrassment.
"I’ve also been chatting with the old man quite often recently. He asked me to take good care of her. Of course, little Liang has proven herself to be excellent, fitting in quickly, and doing everything very well, so I’m considering promoting her exceptionally to be my assistant. Do you have any objections to that?"
"No, that’s your call." Yusuf agreed without hesitation.
"Oh, then let her stay with me for a while. The hotel’s business is about to take off, and her English is quite poor. I’ll tutor her in the evenings," Ruth said lightly.
"Sure... sure." Yusuf agreed mechanically, and Ruth was set on taking little Liang away.
She knew little Liang was living at Yusuf’s house, and now that Yusuf had returned to the capital, it was just him and little Liang at home. It would be strange if nothing happened, so the clever Ruth tethered little Liang to her own side in this manner.
Every woman has a bit of pettiness, and Yusuf was sure that Ruth’s pettiness was acting up.
"Well, if there’s nothing else, Mr. Zuck, you should go back to whatever you were doing," Ruth said with a smile, getting up. She walked away but then suddenly turned back and said, "Oh right, you should tell little Liang about this yourself. If I tell her, I’ll get complained at."
Yusuf nodded with a wry smile. What else could he say? In truth, he was a bit afraid of Ruth too.
