Chapter 213: The Whole World Knows Now
When the dozen or so gunmen stormed into the surveillance room, all they saw were seven corpses still bleeding and a control platform that had turned into a pile of wreckage with all screens blacked out.
As for Yusuf Zuck? There was no sign of any living person here.
"Search..." Everyone was shouting something into their walkie-talkies, probably meaning to look for someone, and that’s when Yusuf Zuck was standing right in front of them.
A casino manager Yusuf had seen before walked in with a pistol in hand; his face so grim it was as if blood was about to drip from it, and then, roaring something hoarsely, everyone rushed out—following the manager as he too left.
Yusuf used to be an electrician, although an uncertified one, but with a few years of electrical repair experience under his belt, he knew exactly how to start a fire with electricity.
An electrical fire is one of the most terrifying kinds of flames because once it starts, the fire spreads quickly along the plastic conduit wrapping the wires.
You see, electrical conduits connect far and wide, so once an electrical fire starts, it will spread from one location to another very quickly. As it travels fast through the wires, a house could burn down before the firefighters even arrive, because fires are breaking out everywhere.
Once everyone had gone out, Yusuf pulled out a length of the power cable he had ripped out and began to generate sparks with the positive and negative leads, sizzling as he went. With the constant sparking between the two poles, the insulating layer began to char and smoke, finally producing open flame, which then spread along the wire into the walls.
Of course, to be safe, Yusuf took a lighter from a dead body and ignited the curtains in the surveillance room.
He was aware that such large public venues had fire suppression systems, and that once an open flame appeared, or sensors detected the flame, overhead sprinklers would activate. But there was no helping it, the fire must burn. Once it grew fierce enough, sprinklers would be ineffective.
