Chapter 765. A Catastrophe
Jael tried his best to keep his expression neutral as he stared at the lord sitting across from him. He knew why Levaton was here. Levaton was the oldest vampire; he knew more about vampires’ history than anyone. So if there was anyone who would react in such a manner about the recent developments, it would be him.
"To what do I owe the honor?" Jael asked. "I do think we have settled the matters between us."
Levaton shuffled in his seat. "I hear Louis has been teaching the lady magic."
Jael frowned. He didn’t like the way the lord introduced the topic. He could have said something along the lines of the dead Palers, but he chose the less common part of the rumor that was circulating.
"What do you mean, Lord Levaton? I don’t think that’s the case," Jael stated. He had no intention of making it easy for the lord.
"It is. How else would she have been able to kill a Paler?"
"Are you saying you knew beforehand that magic was the answer?" Jael asked with a dark look on his face.
The lord shrank back immediately. "Absolutely not. If I had known, I would have suggested it immediately."
Jael leaned back in his seat. "I don’t understand what the problem is, then. I haven’t made an official announcement, but I suppose there is no harm in knowing right now. Yet, you seem to disapprove."
"We can’t give humans magic," Lord Levaton said in horror.
"Mauve is my mate; she isn’t just any human," he said darkly. Though he did intend to go with Mauve’s plan, there was no need for the lord to know that right now.
