The Vampire King's Possession

Chapter 764. Too Soon

The rest of the night was pretty quiet, and even though Jael was clearly opposed to the idea of her facing Palers again, he didn’t do anything to stop it. Mauve wasn’t going to bet that this would continue, but for now, she would enjoy the fact that Jael gave his approval.

Mauve tried to get a read on his expression as they made their way to the dining room for the first meal, but Jael still kept his lips sealed and his expression unreadable. He didn’t seem angry, but it was hard to tell with her mate.

The dining hall was packed. All the injured were completely healed now, and they joined them in the dining hall. Mauve couldn’t help her relief at this. Vampires were really working hard to make sure they didn’t have Paler problems anymore.

No sooner did they sit than Corbin asked, "Sire, when will you inform the rest of the lords, and will your mate join us in the next—"

All the color faded from Corbin’s face at the look that Jael shot him, and he immediately mumbled, "Never mind, I was just wondering about what the current course of action would be."

"As I have told you before," Louis started to say, "it is a little too soon to make conclusions. We need to make further investigations and gather as much evidence as we can before we bring the idea to the lords. Magic is a very delicate subject, especially since vampires can’t use it, but be rest assured that now that we have found the answer, we intend to put it to good use. I only ask that you be patient. Lord Kieran, who is in charge of finding out ways to kill Palers, is here, and further research will be done. When we have a final answer, you all can be certain we will launch a full-fledged war against these vermin that have taken our families from us."

"Yes!" echoed through the table, and smiles appeared on the faces of the lords.

Louis allowed the shouts to fade before he started to speak again. "If you have any questions or doubts, I’d prefer you refer to me. The Primus has his hands full trying to make this possible, and our ladyship is pregnant. Blurting out questions at the dining table is certainly not the way to go about it, Corbin."

Corbin looked down. "I apologize. I was just worried because we haven’t heard any news, and my father’s estate was attacked. He suffered a lot of damage. I was hoping for a solution to prevent that from happening again," Corbin hurriedly tried to explain.
