Chapter 687. An Intrusion
Mauve tried not to show her thoughts on her face as she sat with Louis in the library. Danag had found Louis and pulled him into the library on her behalf, as Jael still had his hands tied up, which meant he was the only person left to keep her company—and he didn’t seem very pleased about the idea.
"You don’t expect me to teach you magic every day, my lady?" Louis scolded as Mauve stared at him eagerly.
The sarcasm in his tone was as clear as day, and Mauve scrunched up her nose. Only Louis knew how to make the title sound so annoying. "There is nothing wrong with that. Besides, very soon I will barely have any time for this. If I don’t learn all that I can now, when will I?"
She also needed it as some form of distraction. She thought of telling Louis about the conversation between Danag and herself, but she couldn’t help but think this was, in some way, looking to someone to solve her problems, and this wasn’t a path she could go down any longer. Definitely not as the lady of the castle.
Danag did say he would give her more information about vampires and her newfound duties. She also knew it would be better to ask Mill but the vampire would likely tell her not to worry about a thing.
Danag has definitely told her more than anyone else. No one thought she needed to change anything about herself, and she wondered if this was their way of being polite, or if they didn’t see her past what she currently was—or perhaps it was still too early.
"No, I told you about getting proper rest. I can’t just—"
"I have been getting enough rest. I slept long enough. Louis, come on," she begged.
Louis sighed. He looked exhausted, but Mauve didn’t notice. However, despite his reservations about teaching her, he stood up and walked to the shelf to pick out a spellbook. He was, without a doubt, curious about what sort of spells she would be able to learn and how fast. He wanted to move to healing spells, but to do that, he needed someone to heal.
