Chapter 198: Smitten by him
The guard stationed in front of the pack house welcomed both Dave and Damien in, not bothering to confirm their disguise.
They were led to the main sitting room, where Lucas’s mother was sitting, awaiting their presence. The smile on her face irked Damien so much that Dave noticed it.
"Oh please, we need our men in here first." Cautioning him, Dave warned and Damien was finally able to produce a smile.
Dave inwardly sighed in relief and faked a smile too, something that was so easy for him to do thanks to his former womanizing nature.
"Welcome to our abode, Alpha Nureo. Please have your seat," welcoming them, Lucas’s mother said and gestured for them to take their seats.
Once seated, Damien responded, "Pleasure is all mine, Vanessa. What of Alpha Lucas?" Inquiring, like he didn’t just leave him behind.
"Alpha Lucas is helping a neighboring Alpha win a war currently, as to when he would be back, I am sorry I lack knowledge of that," Vanessa responded and it was enough to inform Damien that Lucas lied to his mother about his whereabouts.
Since she was the perpetrator behind Aurora’s misery, it was only normal he hid it from her. Lucas wouldn’t be at his pack if Vanessa was aware, because she hates Aurora and wouldn’t want to have anything to do with her.
"Ohh, but the pack is barely guarded, is it safe to leave it unprotected?" Acting concerned, he probed.
Vanessa’s smile dropped, and she said, "I know, Alpha Nureo, but I can only pray for my son’s safe return. If by next week, we get no information, I would be forced to call him back home."
’Your son will be the one praying for you soon,’ inwardly, Damien thought.
