Chapter 118: Ronald was married
Entering the cinema, Dave purchased popcorn and drinks for both of them before they entered the theater room. Choosing seats not far from the screen, they settled in and awaited the commencement of the movie. Charlotte found it weird that they arrived just as the film was about to start.
"How did you know to book this movie?" Unable to contain her curiosity, she inquired.
"I booked it while you were asleep," he replied, to which she nodded in response.
"The film has started," she informed, and the theater hushed.
They were watching a romantic movie titled "Friends with Benefits," centered around two best friends discovering their love for each other. To preserve their friendship, they decided to sign a friends-with-benefits contract to avoid intruding on each other’s privacy.
Initially, the movie was humorous, and the atmosphere was amicable until it reached explicit scenes that made Charlotte uncomfortable. Unsure how to react, she found herself watching such a film with a man who wasn’t her fiancé.
Dave, too, felt an unexpected heat throughout his body. Despite his experience with many women and familiarity with kisses and intimacy, the situation felt awkward. Was it because of Charlotte? Turning his head toward her, he intended to gauge her reaction, but their eyes met.
Dave swallowed hard, eyes widening at the coincidence. Charlotte’s face flushed red, and she felt stifled.
A moaning sound startled them, and Dave started fanning himself. He had chosen the movie assuming it was tagged as "Comedy" and "Romantic." What was with the sudden explicit scenes?
"Should we leave?" He asked, and though she nodded, not wanting to reveal her discomfort, she insisted, "I am fine," offering a forced smile before returning her gaze to the movie, an action she immediately regretted as the characters became more intimate.
Dave noticed a loose strand of hair on Charlotte’s face and moved to help her tuck it behind her ear. The moment his hand touched her, a spark surged through him, causing him to withdraw.
