Chapter 115: A slap for the Luna
"Enough of these unnecessary conversations, we are here to punish the offender, not mend a broken relationship." Slamming his fist against the desk to restore order in the courtroom, Elder Timotei expressed his frustration at the unfolding scene.
"I won’t let you sentence Aurora to death." Ignoring Sarah, Charlotte turned to Elder Jude, challenging their decision. The outcome meant nothing to her, she wouldn’t allow them to harm Aurora. What kind of Elders were they, conspiring with a woman yet to be their Luna? Was it respect or corruption?
"Miss Charlotte, our decision only matters after the audience decides. This is a public trial where the people decide, ensuring a fair judgment. If the audience says no, she gets to live." Elder Jude explained, and judging by his demeanor, they likely influenced some of the people present to vote in their favor.
Charlotte felt repulsed by their actions, unable to comprehend why they were going to such lengths.
"The voting poll is there, everyone except the Elders is allowed to vote, and everyone includes you both. Let the voting begin." Pointing towards the voting poll by the courtroom entrance, Elder Timotei instructed.
"Let’s go." Guiding Theresa, Charlotte walked them to the voting poll, and they cast their votes. Afterward, the audience began casting their votes.
The voting continued for some minutes until everyone finished. The guard by the poll retrieved the paper votes and tallied them, taking some additional minutes.
"The results are in." The guard announced after counting all the votes.
"For the votes against the decision, we have 14 votes." Theresa felt a bit relieved, knowing that only twenty-nine people voted.
"For the votes in favor of the decision, we have 15, and one void." Theresa collapsed to the ground, shocked by the vote’s outcome.
"It is decided, Miss Aurora shall be sentenced to death. This concludes today’s trial. Safe journey home." Elder Jude dismissed the court.
