Chapter 102: Hiding things from the Alpha
"Sarah!" Charlotte heard the clinking of keys and rushed toward the door, banging on it repeatedly. Had Sarah just locked her in?
"Just for a few days, darling. I promise to set you free soon," Sarah’s voice came from outside the room, accompanied by a mischievous chuckle.
How swiftly people could change due to desperation. Charlotte had anticipated a day like this but not in this context. Over a decade of friendship was tossed aside within minutes over a trivial issue.
Ambitions could drive someone to madness, but Charlotte wondered if it was truly worth the risks. Gritting her teeth, she searched her room for her phone, hoping to at least call Dave.
After a few moments of searching, her phone was nowhere to be found in her room, and frustration made her yell out. Where could she have left her phone?
Could it be in Sarah’s room? While searching for Sarah, she entered her room and waited for a few minutes before growing impatient and deciding to continue searching. She had forgotten her phone in the clutches of the villain. What a predicament!
’So foolish,’ she chastised herself internally, venting her frustration by repeatedly kicking her leg into the air. What was she going to do? How could she save Aurora from this imminent danger?
Wait, Sarah wouldn’t let her starve, right? Perhaps she could pass a letter to Theresa through whoever brought her food. Now, she just had to wait, in the meantime, she would compose the perfect letter.
In Country X.
Damien’s tie was loose, his shirt unbuttoned, revealing his bare chest. He sat in his office, sifting through troublesome documents. A staff member had presented the wrong documents for a transfer of ownership, requiring them to start the process again.
Since returning to Country X, Damien had barely slept a full night. It had taken five years to finalize the entire deal, and it had been jeopardized by a careless staff member in a single day.
