Chapter 58: Damien decides
As she made her way to the kitchen, Aurora encountered Scarlet walking with a swollen face.
"Scarlet, why do you look so sad?" Aurora asked, moving closer to her and gently placing her hands on both sides of Scarlet’s cheeks to check for any signs of distress. The image she had witnessed in Scarlet’s room earlier that morning made her wonder if something bad had happened between them.
"Did he hurt you?" Aurora inquired with worry, attempting to inspect Scarlet’s body for injuries, but she couldn’t find any, which only heightened her concern. Scarlet remained silent, not moving her mouth or showing any desire to talk.
Suddenly, Scarlet took notice of Aurora’s question and asked, "How did you know he was in my room?"
"Well, I was just checking up on you, and that’s when I saw you both," Aurora explained, and Scarlet nodded in response. Scarlet realized that it was Aurora who had made the noise that woke her up.
"No, I am fine. I just got soap in my eyes," Scarlet lied, offering a sad smile, but Aurora wasn’t convinced.
Deciding to talk to Enoch later and find out what was wrong, Aurora changed the subject as Scarlet mentioned Damien’s fiancée. "I have to go, The Alpha’s fiancee is here," as Scarlet was about to leave, she was struck by sudden pain, nearly losing her balance, but Aurora quickly supported her to prevent a fall.
With wide eyes and a shocked expression, Scarlet recalled a new memory that had just resurfaced. "It was me!" She exclaimed, holding her head in frustration. She realized that Enoch hadn’t intentionally slept with her, instead, it was she who had impulsively forced him to stay while she was drunk.
Aurora found it challenging to follow Scarlet’s train of thought, as she seemed off that morning. She wondered if the lingering effects of alcohol were causing her friend to act strangely.
