Chapter 24: Relieve and Sorrow
"Get your ass out of here before I kill you!" the man yelled at Dave and forcefully dragged the lady away.
Dave wanted to chase after them, but he realized that everyone’s attention was already on him. He didn’t want to ruin his mission and give Damien an opportunity to bully him.
He touched the corner of his lips, which were now bleeding. "It’s not over," he muttered under his breath, vowing to get back at the man.
"Use this," a soft, familiar voice offered as a handkerchief was stretched out to him. Dave received it but hesitated before using it to wipe off the blood from his lips.
Raising his gaze, he locked eyes with those big blue eyes he had always tried to avoid. It was Charlotte, and her smile made him uncomfortable for some reason.
He threw the handkerchief back at her and turned his back, intending to leave before she went into a frenzy. However, Charlotte stopped him and forcefully wiped away the blood with her handkerchief.
"I am not asking for a night with you. I simply offered a handkerchief, like any other person would," she defended her actions as she cleaned the blood away.
Dave could sense that something had changed about her. She used to get nervous and worried whenever she saw a wound on his body, but now she remained calm and composed.
"Thanks for attending my brother’s wedding. Please give my regards to Alpha Damien," she said, withdrawing her hand once she was done wiping the blood away, and then she spoke curtly.
Why was she so calm and not acting clingy? Dave wanted to ask questions, but he refrained, afraid that it might ignite a desire in her.
"It’s nothing. Alpha Nureo is my brother’s friend," he replied.
