Chapter 81: Operations in Chisato
"Alright, none of that has anything to do with the mission. Just get to work, Mr. Coulson. I want to wrap this up as fast as possible—Brother Xiu Yu's orders."
Uchiha Chisato was growing impatient. She noticed Coulson giving her a strange look—sympathetic, almost pitying—and it rubbed her the wrong way.
What's with that look? Sympathy? What the hell is he sympathizing with?
Coulson cleared his throat and opened the door. "Be careful. The body's right by the entrance. Try not to freak out."
Chisato ignored him and immediately knelt beside the corpse to begin her examination. The victim was a white woman. Her face looked peaceful, and the room showed only minor signs of a struggle. She wore a revealing pajama set—either she didn't have time to react, or she knew her attacker.
Two small puncture wounds marked her neck—like she'd been bitten with sharp canine teeth. Beneath the punctures were faint impressions of teeth. It matched what Brother Xiu Yu described: a so-called vampire attack.
"Cause of death—blood loss?" Chisato asked, not looking up.
"Yeah. Exsanguination. No significant signs of a fight. The NYPD already interviewed those close to her. We're assisting them for efficiency, but based on the evidence, it seems the perp wasn't anyone familiar. Probably a drifter," Coulson explained with a hint of frustration. Cases like this weren't his usual gig, and it showed.
"So after all that, you've got nothing?"
"Not nothing. We've narrowed it down to three suspects. We're planning to check them out now."
"And how exactly did you narrow it down?" Chisato raised an eyebrow. The whole thing seemed too simple—just another homicide. Still, this was her assignment from Xiu Yu, so she had to do it right.
