Chapter 43: Mecha and Research
"What do you think now?" an American representative asked, his voice cold and serious. "China has already established relations with the aliens, and the good news is that they've shared everything they've learned about the Kaiju invasion. At least now, we know where these monsters are coming from."
Another representative nodded grimly.
"And those people also helped us eliminate another Kaiju, preventing us from having to launch another nuclear bomb. The destruction would've been catastrophic."
But the first man's expression darkened.
"Still... we can't always rely on them. What if they leave Earth one day? What then? Are we going to beg them to stay?"
The room fell into an uneasy silence.
The public's trust in their governments was already hanging by a thread. With every Kaiju attack, governments were forced to drop nuclear bombs, leaving behind nothing but radiation-riddled wastelands. Each time, cities were reduced to ruins, and the casualties were beyond counting.
No one blamed the people for their growing resentment.
America had suffered the most.
After two consecutive Kaiju invasions, the combined forces of Madara and Mito had saved the Philippines and Mexico, keeping their casualties low.
Meanwhile, America was forced to nuke San Francisco.
