Apocalypse: Transmigrated with an Overlord System

Chapter 67 : The Road Ahead

The next morning, the group stood at the edge of the base, ready to leave. Each person carried a small bag on their back, packed tightly with food and supplies. No one knew when they would return, or if they even would.

They had taken everything important with them. Leaving anything behind felt risky. After all, there was no guarantee their belongings would still be there when they got back.

If someone broke in and stole everything, they could only regret it later. In these times, even your neighbors couldn’t be trusted.

Before the apocalypse, theft was something people feared but had protection against: locks, cameras, alarms. But now, all of them were gone.

The entire system of security had collapsed. There were no guards patrolling the streets, no police left to call for help. Now, people had to rely on themselves to keep their belongings safe.

Once you left your home, there was no way to protect what you left behind. There were no CCTV cameras to catch the thief, no system in place to track down stolen goods. If someone took your things, they were simply gone. You wouldn’t even know who to blame.

With these thoughts, they packed everything aside from furniture, leaving the apartment empty.

Soon, they reached the gate. After showing their mission papers to the guards stationed there, the gate opened with a loud creak. Without another word, they stepped out into the ruined world beyond—the real world.

The road ahead was quiet, with only the distant sound of some zombies. They walked quite a distance, occasionally coming across a stray zombie or two.
