Chapter 785
Chapter 785
“Regarding your concern about your family being left unprotected once your scrolls are not useful anymore, you don’t need to worry about that. Almost all powerful kingdoms like ours, Ormunda, and New Drennor honor the wizards who contributed significantly to the progress of said kingdoms, and Ormunda will not leave your family behind. As a matter of fact, you can rest assured that as long as Ormunda exists, your family will be able to become one of the most powerful families in that kingdom, as long as it produces powerful people, since your family will remain protected. Not only because of your portal scroll contribution, but it's because the fact that a unique type of magic was produced from your bloodline and the possibility that more unique magic will come from your heirs meant that your bloodline had become valuable.”
Anton was a little comforted at what Captain Joraniah had said, then the wizard continued.
“No one doubts that sooner or later, the divine wizards will be able to crack the secrets of your portal scrolls. The fact that your sister is safe within one of the academies in Ormunda meant that your bloodline is safe; that’s why the wizards in Ormunda allowed you your freedom. Still, by now, they would know that you were the wizard who sneaked in, since a lot of wizards already know that you’re here. Remember, I fought off tens of captains for you to become part of my team. We’ve decided to speak to the Ormundans on your behalf.”
“About what exactly?”
“About allowing you to stay with us as part of one of the teams that is fighting against the coalition. We’ve realized that the Ormundans couldn’t really stop you from doing what you want, and from what it looked like, the thing that you want most is to fight the coalition. So instead of joining the Ormundans in jailing you in a manor in Ormunda, and then you escaping to try to fight the coalition by yourself, it would be better if you’re part of a team, so why not ours?” Captain Joraniah said.
“I appreciate that a lot, captain. You know my history, so you know why there’s a deep-seated need for me to fight the undead. Also, because of my unique magic, I have access to the culture of a dimension that’s very unique since they seem to focus on producing things that entertain people. In my opinion, the things they produced, called movies, television shows, animation, novels, and more, enrich the lives of the people who encounter them. My ambition is to spread those things to this world and maybe someday, find a way to create a gate to their dimension so we can have some sort of cultural exchange. The main issue was that ambition would not come true for me if the cancer that is the Undead Coalition continued to exist.”
Anton paused to drink his tea and continued.
“I know my ambition is shallow, and I don’t care. What other things could I strive for anyway? Power? With my type magic, I’m sure that I will attain that in the long run, but allowing creativity to govern my life, it’s just my identity.”
Joraniah just shook his head and smiled.
“It’s time for you to meet your teammates, but first, let me show you to your room.”
Joraniah and Anton left the office, and he was led to one of the rooms on the second floor. The room assigned to him was large, which he expected due to the size of the mansion. After that, the captain told Anton that they would need to go to the meeting hall to meet his team members.
“Regarding your portal ability, I know that one of the limitations was that you would need to establish a permanent anchor called your home base. I assume that the base of your portal is your home in Ormunda. Please take note that I will ask you to establish the home base of your portal here in our headquarters. You don’t need to worry about not being able to get back to the Gale Continent. The wizards from Ormunda and New Drennor are currently establishing a portal network, so it would be easy for you to return to Gale Continent whenever you want.”
“I understand captain. Can you give me a few minutes to organize my thoughts before we meet the others?”
Joraniah told Anton that he understood and that once he was ready, just to ring the bell that was on the table by the door, and a servant would come in and lead him to the meeting room.
The reason why Anton wanted to be alone was that he wanted to establish a permanent portal from this room to his room in the Rose Manor, since his team captain was asking him to change his portal home base to this place. He would ask Raymond to use a portal scroll that led back into his room in the Rose Manor and ask the butler to make sure that the portal remained active, which meant not allowing the portal to expire. Robert would have to renew the portal before the two-week duration lapsed.
The main issue about allowing the family butler to control the portal was that he would need to be part of Raymond’s party to be able to use the portal. The issue with that was that he could not remain as part of someone else’s party because he would need that system for his team.
The only solution that he could think of was to ask Raymond to go to Anton’s new headquarters in Nermador on a fixed schedule, like maybe every three days or seven days. Another idea was for him to acquire a magic item that would signal to Raymond that he would like to return to Ormunda, and then Raymond would enter the portal, add him to the butler’s party system, and use the portal to return home for a short time.
Anton did not waste any more time and used a town portal scroll. Once he was back in his room in the Rose Manor, he cast the Blizzard spell, turned into Mana Rain to summon Raymond.
“Raymond, I’m now part of an offensive team in Nermador. I would like you to use a portal scroll so a portal will be established from there to here,” Anton told the family butler.
He explained to Raymond the reasoning why he needed the butler to use a portal scroll. Then he tasked Raymond to find some sort of communication magic that would allow Anton to signal Raumond that he wanted to use the portal so that Raymond could fetch him from Nermador.
Raymond nodded his understanding and immediately used a town portal scroll. After Raymond’s portal was established, Anton gave all of the remaining town portal scrolls that he had already transferred from the game to the real world, then entered the portal while the butler remained behind. Once he was back in Nermador, Anton quit Raymond’s party. Their current schedule was that the butler would enter the portal every three days to check if Anton needed to return to Ormunda, but that scheduling would be abolished once they found the magic items they could use for communication.
Raymond’s portal was placed inside Anton’s rarely used office, and in his room in Nermador, the portal was placed beside the wardrobe so that it was out of the way. After that, Anton rang the bell to summon the servant who would lead him to the meeting room to meet his teammates.
