Chapter 775
Chapter 775
“We’ll choose the Dire Wolves!” Delfin shouted.
“Wait. I need to tell you more about them. As I’ve said, the two Dire Wolves will come from enchanted items that I’ll make, and once you use the items, they will be destroyed. Once the wolves are summoned by you, they will become extremely loyal. You can even use them as mounts or use them to hunt animals. They will become half living, half mana construct. That meant that you will need to feed them, and they will start excreting, but their excretions are not the typical feces but some sort of biodegradable material that you can bury anywhere. Thankfully, it doesn’t stink, and from what I’ve heard, they’re beneficial to plants. Since they’re still half mana constructs, their bodies are still made of mana, and any food can be fed to them, even undead corpses, but it also means that they would die if they receive fatal damage. Still, with their power, it will be very difficult to kill them. Do you still want them?”
“Yes! With those wolves, we can probably return home safely,” Delfin said, and even Eva and Devin looked eager.
“I’ll give them to you in the morning before we leave. You can even start using them as mounts tomorrow, if you want.”
“No. They’ll guard us against dangerous animals and monsters during our journey and help us hunt food in the wilderness,” Eva resolutely said, glaring at her son.
Anton laughed. He could see that Devin was disappointed. The young man was probably thinking that having a dire wolf for a mount would be extremely “cool”, befitting a warrior such as himself.
That night, Anton did not join his three guides after dinner but headed straight inside his tiny house after summoning three Dire Wolves to guard them. He did not have any more enchanted summoning tablets, so he planned to spend the next hour making two of them.
Inside the Rogue Encampment, Anton smelted some gold coins until he had enough to make two tablets. He made sure that the gold coins he used were from the real world because, if he used the gold coins from the game, he would not be able to bring them out.
He spent a lot of gold coins to make the tablets, but Anton did not mind. Creating the summoning enchantments was basically effortless work for him. He liked his three guides, and the two dire wolves would allow them a chance to defend themselves until they reached a safe place.
Once the tablets were made, he started the process of enchanting them by etching the mana structure of the spell that summoned Dire Wolves. After an hour, two new dire wolf summoning tablets were made. He stored them in his inventory and brought them out of the game.
Since it was still early, Anton decided not to wait till morning. He went outside and called Delfin and Eva.
“I have your summoning tablets.”
Delfin, Eva, and their son Devin looked excited. When Anton handed them the golden tablets, he saw that his three guides were truly grateful because the two golden tablets alone looked extremely expensive.
“To use them, just turn on the switch. After that, the tablets will be destroyed,” Anton told them.
Delfin and Eva held a tablet each and turned them on at the same time. Anton still found it a little funny that he had never found an alternative to using a switch. The act of switching on a magical item looked extremely mundane, bordering on the hilarious.
The two tablets turned to dust and immediately coalesced into the image resembling dire wolves. Soon, two dire wolves appeared. They were slightly smaller than Anton’s actual Dire Wolves and, as he had told his guides, only had half the strength of the original dire wolves. Still, even half the strength, the dire wolves would be a formidable weapon in the hands of anyone. The two dire wolves could probably kill the vampire that was leading the ghouls they had fought earlier, but the wolves would probably incur severe damage.
Since it was Delfin and Eva who summoned them, the dire wolves would be loyal to the two. Eva immediately hugged the wolf she summoned while Delfin petted his fiercely. Devin looked on enviously since, based on the wolves’ reaction, they would be loyal to his parents and not to him. The couples started checking how their dire wolves would respond to their verbal commands. Anton knew from experience that the wolves should be able to follow all the verbal commands of the summoner, so he did not watch his guides get acquainted with their new comrades. He entered his tiny house, planning to level up his ladder character.
The next morning, Delfin asked Anton to dispel his dire wolves because they wanted to check how their newly summoned dire wolves would work as their guards. So during the next few days, Anton did not summon any summons and allowed his guides’ new dire wolves to be their scout during the day, and their guard during the night.
Delfin, Eva, and Devin were extremely delighted at how powerful their dire wolves were. Any monster they encountered on the road, whether they’re ordinary monsters or undead, was easily dispatched by their new comrades. They were ecstatic at the fact that the dire wolves were extremely obedient. Anton knew that they would be, since they were basically just robots.
What delighted Eva more was the fact that the dire wolves did not have the regular animal smell. As a matter of fact, they did not smell like living things, so the wolves could approach any wild animals more easily.
Anton laughed out loud when Eva insisted on bathing their dire wolves when they passed through a stream, and the tablet summons just accepted the woman’s ministration stoically. When Devin protested a little, saying that the wolves did not need to be bathed, he received a fierce scolding from his mother. Delfin wisely stayed out of Eva’s way.
He just shook his head at how Eva started treating the two wolves. It looked like she was treating them as her children and kept staring at them with loving eyes. It almost creeped Anton out.
What amazed Delfin more was the wolves’ ability to eat anything. Since the dire wolves were not actual living animals, they could even eat plants to boost the energy in their bodies.
Because of Anton’s auras, their travel speed was extreme. Delfin stated that because of the speed of their travel, they would reach Amendora a third of the expected travel time.
After more than seven days of traveling, Anton felt that he needed to show his face at the manor, so during one night, he used a scroll of town portal inside his tiny house and returned to the Rose Manor. Thankfully, Delfin and his family already had two dire wolves to guard them while he was away. Once he was back, he immediately cast the Blizzard spell converted into Mana Rain to signal to the whole manor of his return.
After a couple of minutes, Raymond, the family butler, arrived. Raymond reported that the wizards knew that he was outside Ormunda while he was not in the manor. They told Raymond to inform him that since they could not totally control him, he should make sure that he was inside the manor at least once a week.
Anton frowned at the requirements that the wizards were imposing on him. After a while, he just shrugged and gave the scrolls of town portal that he had already transferred from the game to the real world during the past few weeks to Raymond to give to the wizards of Ormunda.
