Chapter 771

Chapter 771

“You sneaked in? Does that mean that you can’t go back to the Gale continent anytime soon?” Oswald, the information broker who looked like he was wearing a rogue’s costume, asked.

“No. I can return to the Gale continent anytime I want,” Anton simply stated.

Oswald and his two friends look surprised at Anton’s confidence in returning to the Gale continent.

“Is it also some kind of Transport Gate? From what I know of gates, they can only be created by wizards who have reached the Semi-Divine or the Divine Rank, and it would take a tremendous amount of resources for them to do so.”

“The wizards of Ormunda and New Drennor created a scroll that stores a small portal. The user of the scroll just has to rip the scroll, and it would create the portal to return to the safe point that the scroll user established. What it meant was that a portal scroll user would save a safe point, which is usually the safest place they can think of, then travel to their next destination. Once they reach that destination, they can establish that portal and return to their safe point instantaneously. The small portal would then continue to exist as long as the scroll user doesn’t dispel it. The portals only have a duration of two weeks, though, and after that, they would automatically be dispelled. I managed to get a hold of a portal scroll,” Anton told the information broker.

He did not hesitate to share that information because the scrolls were now a well-known resource that had already spread to everyone, and more than likely, the Undead Coalition had already learned about it.

Oswald and his two cohorts looked extremely excited to hear about an item that would allow a person to travel from one continent to another instantaneously, without the power of a Semi-Divine or Divine-level being or the wealth of a nation.

“Does that mean that anyone can use it? Even non-mages?” Oswald asked, not hiding his extreme excitement.

“Yes, but it has some weird limitations. Once a person got a hold of one of the portal scrolls, he would instantly receive the ability to create a group of up to eight people, including the scroll user. Only the members of the group can use the portal. The main reason I dared to return here was because of the scroll that I managed to steal. Sadly, I only have one. I think that was the main reason why the wizards of Ormunda and New Drennor established the Transport Gate. They probably wanted to send people that has scrolls in here to establish some sort of transport system.”

Anton intentionally did not say that the scroll user could disband the party and create a new one to use the portal again.

“Can I see your portal scroll?” Oswald asked, and Anton just laughed.

The main reason why Anton shared the information about the portal scroll was for some of the people who were fighting against the coalition to reach out to the wizards of Ormunda and New Drennor. Unfortunately for Anton, he could not tell anyone where the city base of the Gale Continent wizards was, since he immediately escaped from there until he was far away.

Regarding the enemies trying to get a hold of the scrolls, Anton doubted that they would take the effort, since they already could create a transportation gate.

After a few minutes, Oswald and his two colleagues calmed themselves. The important thing was that they knew that the scroll existed. If they truly were people with tremendous ability, they would find ways to get a hold of them. Anton really didn’t care what they did with the scrolls as long as it would not benefit the undead.

“Because you’ve shared extremely important information, I’ll let you know all the information you want free of charge,” Oswald said after Anton told the broker that he only wanted to know what happened with Rendindura after the undead conquered Mendi, which was just general knowledge.

Oswald told Anton that after the kingdom of Vondi fell, which was the first kingdom that the Undead Coalition attacked, the next kingdoms fell one after another. Mendi was the next to fall, followed by Nurmeno, then Tiande, which was a holy city filled with powerful priests, then Zalnothel, which was the wizard city that Anton and his family intended to stay at after running from Mendi, then Leminthor, followed by the merchant city of Ruandelle. The other kingdoms that fell were Greton, Homura, and finally the port city of Whaling, where Anton and his family boarded a ship to escape the continent of Rendindura.

According to Oswald, more than half of the population of each kingdom that the Coalition had conquered was killed and turned into undead. The remaining were turned into slaves. Basically, half of Rendindura was conquered by the Undead Coalition. The remaining half banded together to form a powerful defense against the coalition. The only reason they managed to defend themselves was that the remaining kingdoms’ Semi-Divine and Divine Rank wizards banded together in the kingdom of Amendora, which was the kingdom in the center of the continent and the first kingdom that the Coalition would need to conquer for them to start penetrating the Eastern side of the continent.

Thankfully, the wizards of the Eastern kingdoms were powerful enough to repel the undead, so the coalition turned their attention to other continents.

The Undead Coalition started their attacks on three other continents, which were Huoxi, Ordura, and finally the Gale Continent.

Oswald and his two cohorts looked grim while the information broker told Anton the story of how the Undead Coalition started conquering the world. Anton felt a little despair. It was like the onset of an apocalyptic event.

Anton knew that more than likely, the wizards from Ormunda and New Drennor were already aware of the situation. He just wondered why they took their time to fight the undead. Now, they’re on the defensive, which Anton felt was a bad strategy that was necessitated because of the stupid complacency that the wizards had shown toward the coalition.

Oswald continued telling his grim story, focusing on the situation of the people who had survived inside the cities that the coalition had already conquered. The atrocities that the people were experiencing were so severe that Anton could not help but shout at Oswald to stop. He even went so far as to bring his hands to his ears to cover it.

“The only reason our kingdom was still safe was that we’re lucky enough to be located on the Eastern side of the continent,” Oswald said with a dark expression.

Anton saw that the woman beside Oswald had glimmers of tears in her eyes.

“When Mendi fell, the only thing my father, my sister, and I did was run. While we were in the ocean, the undead reached us and killed all the passengers of the ship we took. They killed all of my friends. When we reached Ormunda, I thought that we were finally safe. Ormunda was such a powerful and huge kingdom, and it felt like it was simply impossible for the undead to reach us there. But then the undead reached the Gale Continent, and one kingdom had already fallen. That’s why I’m here. I’m just tired of running. I want to fight the undead, and I think going to that kingdom you said was the kingdom that was defending against the coalition in this continent would be my next destination.”
