Chapter 224
"You look flustered. Is the dress that tight?" Killian teasingly asked, knowing it was his touch that made her flustered. It was much better to feign ignorance and tease her so he could see her sharp claws come out.
Amelia pushed his hand away from touching her. "And to think I was starting to miss your presence. Silly me," she started to walk around him.
"Did you? We weren’t apart for long but I could see how it might have felt longer for you. How much did you miss me?" Killian asked, quickly going to her side to walk with her to the throne room.
Amelia regretted letting Killian know she missed him. She forgot that he was the type to never let this go. "Please forget about it and focus on what is important right now."
"I deem this to be more important than the coronation. It is not so often that my wife tells me she misses my presence. I need to enjoy the moment. Is this the effect of the trip we took? Have you fallen in love with me?" Killian asked.
Amelia looked up beside her at Killian when the word love was mentioned. She felt something more for him during their trip but she didn’t know if it was love. Wasn’t that too soon? Perhaps it was safer to say she started to like him more. They had a little longer to go before she could go around telling Killian that she loved him. It wasn’t like Killian was claiming to love her.
"No. What about you? Have you fallen in love with me or am I still just a human who intrigues you?" Amelia questioned, holding her breath as she awaited his answer.
"I thought without having to say it these days that I have grown to care for you more than just an intriguing human."
"That doesn’t answer if you have fallen in love with me," Amelia noted.
"It doesn’t," Killian agreed. "I am still figuring out what it means to love someone. I would ask Lucifer as he is married and deeply cares for his wife, but sometimes he offers bad knowledge. I do know that I care for you and I have no plans of letting you die anytime soon. When you are sad, it bothers me. Maybe I am close to figuring out if what I feel is love."
