Chapter 152
"Princess, your dress," Gina said, panicking at the sight of the mud on the bottom of Amelia’s dress. She wasn’t made aware they would be going through the mud to get to someplace that was on fire or she would have picked a totally different dress. One she would toss out after this trip.
Amelia looked down at her dress and her shoes which were the worst. The road to reach the other village was wet and with the mud being soft, they could not use the carriage to get there and since no one offered to fly, Amelia was walking behind Alastor.
Nothing would stop her from seeing what was wrong with the village. Not even the cold water filling her shoes when she pressed in the mud with each step would make her turn back.
’I really liked these shoes,’ Amelia sulked. Once again she was in need of a proper heads-up for her to bring different shoes. ’I didn’t think I would be traveling through the mud to get to villages. Did Killian forget that I cannot fly? I swear if he did this because he thinks it is amusing I am going to kill him.’
Cyrus walked right behind Amelia, not bothered by the mud as he was once used to it. The only people having a bad time at the moment were Amelia and Gina. He would love to fly her to the village but his wings weren’t strong enough to carry two people. His were smaller compared to Killian’s and just strong enough to lift him around.
It was amusing to see Amelia push through the mud, determined to reach the village and bring peace to it. Anyone who didn’t know how stubborn Amelia could be would certainly be surprised by her not turning back. Once she put her mind to completing something, she would finish it. It was a trait he both admired and disliked about her. He disliked when the determination would lead her to trouble and he could not talk her out of it.
Alastor looked over his shoulder, highly amused at the sight of Gina walking through the mud like it was on fire. She was taking big steps and cried each time her foot went down into a deep puddle. He was hoping she would take the wrong step and fall flat on her face. The perfect revenge for her annoying him.
Gina used her hands to pull her leg out of the deep mud she had lodged herself into. She was in the north to help Amelia achieve her goal of becoming queen but nowhere in those plans did it say she needed to be going through mud. ’Why is the mud even like this? I don’t recall any rain yesterday. This entire mountain is hell,’ she thought.
"Ah ha!" Gina celebrated pulling her foot out. She looked up to see how much further they needed to go but was surprised to see that Alastor was looking in her direction.
