Chapter 80
"He says you will address why I am here," Killian informed her. He was tempted to tell her a lie but he had a feeling that if he ruined this moment she was so worried about, she might never forgive him any time soon.
He truly did not see why she was trying to please everyone. That was something he could not accomplish even as a demon. How insufferable it must be to try to make everyone happy. Again, he didn’t see why anyone would judge her decision to marry him when she was obviously doing it to avoid war in the future.
’Humans are still foolish, I see.’
"Thank you," Amelia whispered to Killian. She released his hand now that they were on stage together. Amelia walked forward to address the crowd but before she could speak, the court minister tapped her hand. "What is it?"
"Do not say anything to rile them up. We were supposed to give you a speech but you never came to us to practice. It’s ridiculous that you slept-"
"Shut up," Amelia snapped. At a time like this when there was a crowd waiting to hear what happened in the castle, he honestly thought this was the best time to try scolding her? "I already apologized for sleeping in. If you are still angry, find another time to address this but not right now."
Before he could say something else, Amelia walked to the front of the stage. "Good afternoon everyone," she greeted the crowd.
"That bitch," the court minister, Fabian, cursed under his breath. Amelia was only acting high and mighty because of her engagement to the king of the north. Did she honestly think that was something to gloat about? She won’t be treated well in the north and sooner than she realized, she would be begging to come back here only for them to reject her. Who would want a princess who became Killian’s whore?
"Watch it you..." Fabian’s voice trailed off when he realized who he had walked into. He was certain Killian was on the other side of the stage.
