The Throne Is Mine

Chapter 60

Amelia could not understand how Margaret could place her as the person behind her father’s death when there wasn’t any evidence. Did Killian and Margaret have a conversation?

If there was a possibility Margaret had someone watching her, Cyrus would have noticed them and disposed of the person. He always did when her father had someone watching her. Margaret was right when she said she would always know what is happening inside the castle.

Amelia decided not to comment on her grandmother’s words. She had been scared for her grandmother to find out what she had done but her father’s death was easily accepted.

"The throne room will be in chaos. Everyone will look to throw someone else into the fire. Amelia, you may not like it but use Killian’s interest in you to get what you want to say heard. Your father is no longer here so now is the time for you to shine as one of the two Blackwell royals present in the castle. You will be the one to bring peace back into this castle," said Margaret.

"We should have been more prepared even before the day Killian’s men killed all the guards around me."

"I know," Margaret patted Amelia’s hand once again. "I am also at fault. I should have returned to the castle and knocked some sense into your father."

"No one is to blame but my father. Regardless of if you knocked some sense into him, it was he who had the final say in creating good plans to fight against the north. I would love to know what his bright idea was," Amelia’s words died down when she spotted Killian leaning up against a pillar near the throne room.

"He must be waiting for you. Amelia, he’s not a bad man when he’s not on the battlefield. He’s much better than the list of men your father had as candidates for you. Ultimately it is your decision and I stand by what you want. It’s unfortunate we’re in a predicament that if we can’t find another way to create a truce with the north, you would have to marry him but don’t worry, grandmother can always sneak you far away."

Amelia smiled, happy to hear her grandmother would help her run away if she wanted to. After Margaret had been suggesting she consider marrying Killian before he stormed the castle, she was now offering to help her escape. "Thank you grandmother but there is no need. I am going to do what’s best for the people."
