The Crown's Seduction

Chapter 260: Cleanup

After all was said and done, everyone present for the trial slowly filtered out of the public courtroom. Most of the high officials still had jobs to do, and so too did the public leave to continue with their lives. Surprisingly, both the King and Queen quickly disappeared on them without a word, leaving Abel to scratch his head as both he and Fritz were left to deal with all of the cleanup and make sure that none of Haman’s nonexistent remains lingered in the vicinity.

"Of course, it ends up being me cleaning up the place," Abel groaned as he watched both men and women alike leave him to his lonesome. "Aren’t there supposed to be cleaners to do this stuff for us?"

"It’s not like they wanted to be here in the first place," Fritz scoffed as he casually lounged by the side of the now empty courtroom hall. "Some of the men are still here, you know. You can always just tell them to do your job for you."

Abel rolled his eyes at Fritz’s obvious teasing. Just from the way the man put his foot up on the nearest chair to him, he was clearly relishing his current lack of duties to fulfill, leaving him to just sit back and relax as he took over with the cleanup.

Well, there actually wasn’t much to deal with beyond the cage and some of the filth that Haman left behind while he was begging for mercy, but it was still important to at least leave the place as clean and orderly as they first found it.

"I suppose I can just do that," Abel hummed to himself as he strolled through the open court, mindlessly directing the organizing and the cleaning of all the chairs and tables used by those who used to be present. "Then again, I’m not even supposed to be the one doing this..."

"Oh? Pray tell then, who’s supposed to be in charge of the clean up?" Fritz chuckled as he asked him from where he was lounging. "You don’t see anyone else here with us, and both the King and Queen left before they could even address the public further. Why, they didn’t even bother addressing us? They just left before delegating someone to clean up."

Abel let out another sigh at that point. With nobody being pointedly designated for clean up, everyone left without a second thought. It almost felt like everyone knew that the last person to leave would be the one left in charge of all the clean up that was supposed to happen.

And of course, he was the one left in charge of it. Why wouldn’t he be when he had to stay behind to at least direct the few men who were in charge of the security of the place?

"They’re busy with other things," Abel defended with another sigh as he directed yet another one of his men to disperse what few of the crowd were still left watching them clean. "They still have to run the kingdom, after all. The Queen has her visitations delayed as well because of this too..."

"Eh, I’m sure that’s of no consequence to them," Fritz shrugged. "They could’ve spared us a few minutes before disappearing, but nope. They just left us here without any other direction other than to do what’s obvious at the moment."

"That being clean up?" Abel scoffed back. "Shouldn’t that mean that you’re supposed to help me with this?"
