Chapter 394: Jonas’ Issues

Jonas couldn't say what bothered him the most: the fact that Elmo had been captured by orcs and it was just at this point that they were finally able to really make an attempt at rescuing him or the fact that he was suddenly that worried about Elmo. He'd never been worried about anyone in the past outside of them being in the same group as him, with the same goal. Though, even then, it was in regards to how important that person was to whatever goal they had at that moment.

Maybe if it was before he'd been taken from the life he used to know before that, but mostly that period of his life was a blank or a blur. It wasn't something that was so clear for him as the concern he had for Elmo right then. Even with him not being able to explain why it bothered him so much.

Even trying to occupy his mind with other things, now that the issue with Douglas had been resolved, wasn't helping keep him from dwelling on the subject.

Though, he hoped it was primarily because Elmo was important to their group, and there was no telling how he was doing at the moment with the orcs. As at least that would be more in line with how he had considered things in the past. Even though he was pretty sure that wasn't it.

He wasn't sure if he should see if he couldn't talk to someone about it, but he was pretty sure that no one present was really interested in listening to him when he himself didn't know what the problem really was between him and Elmo. It felt like his heart was being crushed the longer Elmo was held captive, yet he couldn't say what it was about. Especially when he didn't have any frame of reference to work with on the matter.

He wasn't even sure he understood it well enough to even put words to it.

Even after eating something, he still couldn't shake the sensation from him. It was almost like it had somehow found its way inside him to a level he either hadn't even known existed or had been unused for so long that it might have as well come out of nowhere and sprang into existence without so much as a warning.

He didn't believe that would have sprang out of nowhere, but with what he'd experienced lately, he wouldn't be surprised if it was possible for it to actually do that.

Still, it didn't solve the problem about how to handle it. He'd always been sure to keep his distance from those he worked with, but that didn't help him when it came to his turbulent emotions when it came to Elmo's predicament.
