Chapter 1081 - 1108: Meeting the Parents (4)
Camden River and Windsor Myres withdrew their gazes and turned to enter the neighborhood. Before they even got upstairs, Camden said, "I’ll take you home later."
"No." Windsor never expected him to say something like that, and she directly refuted, "I already told you I had a fight with my mom and can’t go home. If I go home, she might lock me up, and I won’t be able to see you."
"My parents will be coming over soon." As they exited the elevator, Camden unlocked the door and said while walking inside, "If they come over and see us living together, do you think that’s appropriate?"
His parents didn’t have a great impression of her, and Camden naturally didn’t want any more accidents.
Windsor was briefly quiet, then compromised, "They don’t know the place and can’t make a surprise visit. When they get here, I’ll just pack up my things temporarily. What’s the big deal?"
"We’re in a legitimate relationship. Why do we have to be sneaky about it?"
"I only fought with my mom for your sake!"
"I’ll take you home." Camden looked at her sideways, "You’ll have to deal with your mom eventually. Whether it’s now or later, it’s the same. We’re getting married next year. How long do you plan to keep fighting with her?"
"Marriage is marriage. We don’t necessarily need her approval."
"Can we take this lightly?"
"I’m not taking it lightly." Windsor flung herself into his arms, clinging to him like a child, "You don’t understand. My mom is very difficult to talk to. She just wants me to find a businessman. You’re not suitable in her eyes. It doesn’t matter what I say, we don’t need to worry about her."
"She’s your mom!"
"I know she’s my mom!" Windsor grew upset and said gloomily, "She’s my mom, not yours. Why are you so concerned about her? We love each other, so we get married. If someone opposes us, we won’t get married? There’ll be plenty of people who oppose."
"Little Windsor," Camden suddenly called her softly.
Windsor hugged his waist, her cheek pressed against his chest, and suddenly went blank.
She couldn’t quite recall the last time Camden called her so tenderly, and her heart softened.
Windsor lay in his arms and whispered, "I’m just afraid you’ll be wronged. Really. You don’t understand how unreasonable my mom is. She’s much harder to talk to than me. Can’t we just not deal with her?"
"No." Camden pushed her out of his arms, gripping her shoulders, and said earnestly, "Marriage is not a game. I need her permission to have the right to live with you for a lifetime, do you understand? I want our marriage to be blessed by family and friends."
"Is this really that important?" Windsor’s voice was low.
"Yes." Camden nodded, "It’s very important, so don’t be afraid. Leave it to me. Don’t act on your own."
"What about now?"
"Let’s rest for a bit, and then I’ll..."
Before Camden could finish, Windsor’s phone suddenly rang.
She took it out to glance at it, "It’s my mom."
"Answer the call first." Camden released her and stepped away to tidy up the coffee table.
Windsor sat on the sofa to take the call, her expression getting worse. In the end, she directly hung up with a darkened face.
Camden asked her, "What did she say?"
"She said if I’m not back within an hour, I won’t be her daughter anymore."
Camden’s expression changed slightly. After a moment of thought, he stopped tidying and said to her, "Let’s go, pack up your things, and I’ll take you home first."
