Chapter 395: The hostage and kidnapper
Mingzhe and Jingzhe remained outside the glass house, looking inside. Jingzhe had tried to go inside but Mingzhe stopped him to avoid startling Lele. Much as the snake would never knowingly hurt his sister, mistakes could happen.
Jingzhe listened to all of Mingzhe’s explanations and yet his heart remained unsettled. "Her mouth is moving, she could be begging for help."
"The hostage is negotiating with Lele to allow her go to work." Mingzhe told him. "She is promising to return later. But Lele and I both know that she is lying. I am afraid that the kidnapper will not be convinced easily."
Jingzhe rolled his eyes. "Will you stop referring to them as the hostage and the kidnapper? It does not paint a rosy picture you know."
"And yet it is the reality." Chi Lian shared as she dropped down next to them.
More family members had come and none of them had a worried look on their faces. They were smiling and some of them were taking pictures.
Jun Yi was recording the whole thing, planning to upload a few clips on her social media pages which promoted the loving side of animals.
Jingzhe really didn’t understand why they were confidently standing by. Nothing about the situation looked simple or funny to him. "Should we call animal rescue, imperial soldiers, police, swat...."
"What are you panicking about?" Great grandpa Jun asked him. "Look, my wife is going inside as well and I am unbothered. We have been living with Lele for decades now. She came here as a little girl. The only people that she has ever bitten, suffocated or eaten were bad guys that trespassed on our property."
Jingzhe blinked. He wondered if the old man was hearing himself. What did he mean by the snake had eaten people? If it had eaten people, then people should not have been allowed to be around it.
