Chapter 367: Ladies and karaoke.
Jingzhe was keeping an eye on Mingzhu at the tea party which was now a wine and flower competition party. He could not begin to understand how the tea party had changed form after the Empress Mother arrived but it had done so.
Lunch had been ordered from the royal palace and it was delivered. Ladies had eaten and stayed around because etiquette did not allow them to leave before the Empress Mother left or called it a day.
His mother was interacting with the noble women, waiting for the Empress Mother to declare it cake time. He was doing his best to stop Mingzhu from plucking leaves or flowers from the expensive orchids that the noble women had called their servants to bring over.
He knew all of Mei Mei’s history by heart. Mingzhu’s habit of destroying leaves, flowers and papers was just like Mei Mei’s childhood habit of doing the exact same thing.
Jingzhe received a call from Mei Mei sharing her current location. He winced.
Something shattered.
Without raising his eyes, he just knew that either Mingzhu or one of the Empress Mother’s dogs had broken a flower pot.
It was both!
And the two criminals were looking up with wide eyes. The dog ran away, Mingzhu was left at the crime scene alone.
"Daddy...." Mingzhu’s lips trembled.
Jingzhe walked forward and squatted before her. He wiped the tears that were forming in her eyes. "No crying. You are going to apologize and compensate....." He looked at the name that was engraved into a large broken piece of porcelain that was once a flower pot. "Lady Jiang Shubin. You are going to compensate her with your own money, not mine or your mother’s."
Mingzhu nodded.
