Chen Zhilan reached for the clothe to share her surprise. Mei Mei rushed to to stop the unveiling, tripped and she accidentally pulled the cloth off.
"Noooo...." She cried out.
"Yes." Zhilan celebrated. "I knew that you would be enthusiastic about this. I could not get our conversation about the leech out of my mind so I had my P.A. find one for us."
"Oh My God!" Taiyuan exclaimed She had already heard about leech Mo but she did not expect Zhilan to actually find a real leech and give it to Mei Mei as a gift.
Zhilan’s fingers danced for joy. "The four of us can raise this leech together. It can take turns moving from one house to the other on a weekly or monthly basis. My P.A. will make the schedule basing on what we agree on. We have already agreed to name him Leech Mo."
Taiyuan groaned in disbelief.
Mei Mei looked at the rectangular, crystal pet container. It was filled with moist dark soil layered like a chocolate cake: A small tree with a single curled leaf provided shade. Droplets of moisture pooled on the inner walls.
A very tiny puddle of water shimmered in one corner. The occupant, Leech Mo was dark as midnight ink and he was sleeping on the soil.
Chen Zhilan was still talking about the shared pet. "He is a terrestrial leech that is why we need the moist soil and the tree. So what do you think? Did I do great?"
Mei Mei was still a little to speechless to respond on demand.
