Chapter 172: Tang Bingwen’s sorrows.
St. Jude’s Hospital.
Tang Bingwen was regretting his life’s decisions. He had always dreamed of being a doctor--a benevolent doctor like his relative Tang Siming. He wanted to be a beacon of healing, a symbol of hope and a man whose name was written in the books of history as someone whose great contributions to the field of medicine had somehow shaped humanity. What he hadn’t dreamed of was being the most bullied intern doctor and St. Jude’s Hospital and all for a crime had had not committed.
Every morning or evening when he showed up at the start of his shift, he endured passive-aggressive comments from the security guards at the hospital. If he was lucky, he dodged those of some patients and nurses as he made his way inside.
His days only seemed to become harder after that as he was always assigned mind-numbing tasks. He was even made to take out bed pans, a task meant for hospital assigned robot butlers. His food always went missing from his bag or the refrigerator.
If he chose to eat in the cafeteria, he was always given small portions and he had to endure the sneers, whispers and smirks from other doctors as he forced the food down his throat. He was not liked by his colleagues, many accused him of using the Tang name and his affiliation to the great Tang Siming to sail through medical school. He was even enduring unproven claims that he had only passed because he was a Tang.
Mrs. Xu’s revelations on national Tv had made his life worse. Now, everyone knew that even the Tang name was borrowed. It did not come from his father but rather his mother. They had taken to calling him a mooch. Some even asked him if he and his sister Tang Yue were both Mo Liang’s mistresses.
Tang Bingwen had just become Junior resident but the senior residents and fellows who were surgeons treated him like an overqualified intern than a fellow professional.
He had just reported for the night shift today and already, he was facing the same daily challenges.
A female patient had just refused to be checked by him and he had stepped out of the consultation room to call another doctor.
