Chapter 170: What legacy?
"What legacy could you be talking about?" She asked him.
Absentmindedly, Junjie picked up another salty fry. "Your mother is the best treasure hunter and spy we have in this empire. She has done some great things...."
"Spy!!" Mei Mei exclaimed...hovering somewhere between shock and horror. "My mother is a spy."
"Retired spy...your father lends a hand too every once in a while. It is why he toured different parts of the world as a visiting professor at so many universities."
Mei Mei mind drew back to her childhood, recalling all the times that her mother had been away constantly, missing special family events sometimes. Her parents used to take so many vacations that at one time, her grandmother had asked them why bothered to have children if they didn’t want to stick around long enough to raise them because they were too busy indulging in selfish pleasures all around the world.
This did not stop them, a week later, they were gone. They spent a month in South Korea before returning and when they returned, they only stuck around for one month and set off to Cambodia for half a year.
Mei Mei recalled all the times they had made spy jokes at home and how her parents had laughed it off. Now that she thought about it, who took a six months vacation in the kingdom of Cambodia at a time when there was a fight for the throne between the emperor and his nephew!!
Mei Mei’s mind swiftly worked through all of the empires or kingdoms which her parents had visited for vacations.
