"Where are you going? Didn’t you see your Lan Li is not inside?" Old Master Gu shouted, but it was unstoppable, as Old Master Lan had already walked in with his cane.
Inside, He Teng and He Zhilan had just taken their seats at the main table when they heard someone calling for He Teng. As they turned around, they saw Old Master Gu and another elderly gentleman walking in, one after the other.
He Teng was momentarily stunned, then after a few seconds, he recognized the person leading Old Master Gu and stood up to greet him, "General Lan."
Seeing He Teng stand, He Zhilan picked up her skirt and followed him, and upon hearing He Teng’s greeting, she realized it must be Lan Li’s grandfather, her biological maternal grandfather.
He Zhilan had a faint impression of this grandfather, only remembering that the old man lived in his hometown for years and rarely visited the capital. Therefore, she hardly remembered what he looked like.
"Grandfather Gu, Grandfather Lan," He Zhilan greeted the two men lightly as she stood next to He Teng and saw Old Master Gu looking at her. She smiled at Old Master Gu and then asked, "Grandfather Gu, what brings you here?"
"I was actually here to meet some other old friends, but as I was passing by the doorway, I saw you two," Old Master Gu said, feeling a sense of relief in his heart as He Zhilan did not show any disdain towards him, an elder of the Gu family, due to the events of these past years.
To be honest, although He Zhilan’s arrival at his birthday celebration years ago had caused quite a stir, Old Master Gu still liked this young lady in front of him.
