Chapter 59: THE WIT OF A DEMON QUEEN (2)
Arella squinted her eyes slightly. She knew that this was an opening that lady Seraphine was creating for her family to get closer to the royal family. However, she did not mind helping her.
After all, she had planned to get close to her either way, what better way than to allow such a delectable fruit fall into her lap.
Echo, sensing his master’s change, looked up at her with a huff.
Only he knew how sneaky his master actually was.
Arella leaned back on her chair slightly, amused at Echo’s huff. It was as if he knew how she was thinking of exploiting the poor fruit that had given itself to her. Her decision was swift, and she turned to Solenne who had been standing slightly behind her the whole time, "Send for the fabric, it should be with the king. Inform him that I ask for it for a few moments."
Solenne bowed deeply before hurrying from the garden. The other women exchanged curious glances. They had not even been aware of such an occurrence in the South. Lady Immera had busied herself with her tea, as if the situation did not interest her in the slightest.
Lady Seraphine’s expression was one of carefully veiled satisfaction, and she raised her cup up to her lips to hide the smile that Arella had already seen. She did well to maintain her composure though, Arella could give her that.
"You are very gracious, your majesty," Lady Seraphine said after finally schooling her expression, "I hope I can be of assistance."
"Sometimes the smallest of threads can unravel the biggest of mysteries," Arella offered. "Can one of you refill these pots with tea," She turned to another attendant. This time three of them bowed and hurried to do as Arella had instructed.
