Chapter 57: THE TEA PARTY WITH THE NOBLE LADIES (4)
She had felt like dying after three days, and there were demons who had kept on for a whole week. Also, were they really comfortable speaking of such things in the presence of two girls who had yet to come of age?
A demon with light pink hair raised her hand. "Oooh, I know that story." This demon was, in one word... gorgeous. Her light pink hair had been braided in pigtails down her back, and she wore a light pink gown that matched her hair.
Her eyes were also a beautiful shade of pink that Arella felt she could be drawn into if she was not careful. It was Lady Darvia, whom Arella had refused to believe she could be as beautiful as her portrait showed. Now, she could say with certainty that the portrait did her no justice.
"Go on," Lady Immera said. "I am sure the queen would love to hear it as well."
Arella found herself nodding, curious, although she found the whole discussion scandalous. "It was way before the last king came into power. The queen at that time had a female mate, but she had still gotten betrothed to the king. She agreed to marry the king on the condition that she would not be forced to stay away from her mate."
Lady Darvia was literally bouncing in her chair as she told the story, "But then after they got married, it turned out that the king was also the queen’s mate. Since it turned out like that, the three of them decided to get married together." she lowered her voice, "I read that they took a month off every year to go vacationing. Just. The. Three. Of. Them."
The table burst in oohs and aahs as Lady Darvia finished her story. She looked very proud to have known it, and her nose was all the way up in the air as Lady Immera gave her an indulgent smile. Lady Darvia, despite her accomplishments in battle, was a very lively demon.
"So it is common for demons to have mates?" Arella asked.
"Yes." Lady Seraphine answered, "It helps ground a demon, and some have even reported that their powers grow after marrying their fated partner."
