When Alanis and Brenda reached the Scary Clown booth ride, the sight in front of them stopped Alanis cold. His dark eyes stared at his woman laughing, her eyes bright, her smile wide as she stood beside Brian. The laughter that echoed from her lips hit Alanis like a slap. He clenched his jaw, a storm building behind his eyes.
Brenda, on the other hand, looked like a firecracker ready to explode with excitement. Her eyes sparkled, not from the ride, but from the man beside her. She glanced at Alanis and practically bounced.
Brian was the first to notice them. "O-oh... th-they’re b-back," he stammered, clearly flustered. He liked Harlow, he preferred Harlow to his wife.
If only Alanis could switch.
Brenda’s smile faltered for a second, her eyes narrowing at Brian’s slip-up. Embarrassment flickered, but she pushed it down. ’It’s fine,’ she told herself. ’No one here knows I’m married to him. I just need to focus. Alanis is the prize. He’s the only one that matters.’
She turned to Alanis, eyes gleaming. "Oh my God, what is that?!" she shrieked suddenly, flinging herself into his arms like she’d seen a ghost. Her popcorn flew into the air in the most theatrical way.
Alanis frowns, his face tightening. He peeled her arms off him like she was something sticky he couldn’t wait to be rid of.
But Brenda just giggled at his action, as she tried to cover up her shame. She leaned closer again, whispering, "I’m such a scaredy-cat Mr Hamilton. You should always protect me."
