Chapter 52 – Strangely possessive
"I don’t handle HR matters," Alex replied nonchalantly.
How could he convey to her that despite Jeremy standing up for her, he was uncomfortable with their closeness?
Joanna, not naive, was determined not to let the issue go and pressed on.
"You transferred Colton, and now Jeremy has been promoted. What’s your angle?"
She was not going to take it lightly, pondering how many other men might be affected by her actions.
The reason she was so certain it related to her was because Jeremy was fired because of her.
She had planned to reinstate him in his position and finally promote him after she meets the target set by grandpa, but Alex’s plans overtook hers.
"He was fired from the Bakers and was qualified for the position the Kings offered. How is that a problem?" He was getting agitated, signaling for Ike to drive.
"I thought you didn’t handle HR matters?" Joanna continued to press him as Ike drove, making Alex slightly nervous.
"Well, I just hacked into the company server because you mentioned it. Plus, I made it clear that no man should be close to you until the contract was over. It would be best for these men to stay away from you, or they will face either my good or bad side."
Joana shook her head, silenced by his response and unable to continue the argument.
