Chapter 48 – I never knew the Baker girl was such a stun
A few minutes ago, Joanna woke up dazed in the back seat of a familiar car she knew was not hers, wondering how she had been transferred there. The last thing she remembered was feeling sleepy after eating pizza.
"Jack, where am I?" She asked, met with the sound of an unexpected voice.
"Ma’am, we are at one of the King family mansions," Ike answered, glad to see her awake. All his worries about those elders making things difficult for his boss slowly dissipated.
"What happened?" Joanna asked, still checking her environment, as confusion roamed her mind.
"Sir found you asleep in the office and brought you here. Jack is with the doctor."
Joanna panicked at the explanation. "Why?" She recalled eating pizza, and that was all, so what exactly happened to Jack? She was worried.
Ike tried to calm her from where he sat in the driver’s seat. "He was found sleeping too, the doctor confirmed from the leftovers that the food you both ate was laced with sedatives."
Joanna felt a strange tremor of fear buzzing through her. She was glad it was just sleeping pills, but it could have been anything else, something harmful to her health. "What? By who?"
She could not wrap her head around whoever was trying to make things difficult for her. That should have been Mia, but the bitch ate the pizza with her.
