Chapter 24 – I can take it from here
Cole shivered at the sound of the voice, recalling Logan’s words about Alex killing his father.
Monica was equally curious, wondering which hospital staff member had the audacity to speak with such confidence.
Cole knew Alex would follow through with the threat, cursing Joanna in his heart before gritting his teeth.
Walking to the door, he unlocked it, but as soon as he pulled it open, a punch was sent right to his groin. He groaned in pain as Joanna rushed in to hug her mother, bypassing Alex and Cole.
"Mom, are you alright?" She felt her mother shivering and crying like a baby, something she had never seen her do before.
It was all Cole’s fault, and Joanna was very upset, not caring about whatever punishment Alex would mete out to him.
The doctors went in to check on Monica as well, but Cole, ducking from the pain, made it easy for two more punches to be sent to his face, causing him to pass out instantly.
No one would have believed that a punch from a cripple would result in a medical emergency.
Fear and panic saturated the atmosphere as the doctors contemplated attending to the unconscious man on the floor.
In the end, one of them asked the man in the wheelchair, "Should we attend to him?" They had no idea who he was, but his actions made it clear that he was not to be messed with.
Alex was furious at how he intended to deal with his father-in-law, but Cole was too weak, already unconscious.
