Chapter 40: SAFE
"A large rogue wolf. Something a hunter keeps. It’s strong enough to topple the car. Drive faster," Tala responded in a panicked tone.
"Shit" I cursed and decided to head to the Freki mansion" Hold on" I advised her and turned the car around to speed off.
I watched from the side mirror but did not see a thing as darkness had crept in. I opened my senses and let my wolf give me the vision of the night. Two seconds later, I spotted it. A large black wolf approached from the left rear. I swerved and sped off, hitting the bumps on the road and Tala held on for dear life.
"We should be clear in a minute or two. They can get on Freki land," I informed her. Not a second later, I felt the car hit in the right rear and we swerved again. This time the car skidded and got off the road, but I was determined to lose them. And pressed on the gas pedal, held onto the steering well, and got us back on the road.
"Freki land" Tala yelled in happiness as the sign came into view we left the main road and got into the lane that led to the Freki mansion. Speeding up without stopping, we drove and, as we approached the gate, I kept on hooting. The guard knew my car and opened it up and we entered the driveway and parked the car. We got out of the car and Conri rushed out of the mansion.
He took one look at us and then saw the dents on the car.
"Who?" He demanded.
"Hunter and his minions, "I seethed and pulled Tala close.
"Fucking bastard. How dare they? Get in the house and keep the doors locked," He commanded. We rushed into the house and slid the doors closed. We watched as Conri paced up and down the driveway, then he stopped and in seconds he had shifted into his wolf.
"What the "I whispered while Tala pressed on my hand.
Conri Dolf’s wolf was brown. Twice the size of normal wolves, lethal and menacing. He stood in the driveway and then he growled. A sound that shook the entire house and pushed us to our knees.
