Chapter 21: CONRI’S STANCE
"To please Godmother," He snapped.
"I hate lies the most. "my eyes blazed at him. He was silent for a while as our eyes clashed, but he shrugged his shoulders and responded, "Because you were the first person to approach me without considering me a rogue"
"That’s true." I boasted and smiled.
"But this is only a contract marriage. "He stated.
"I am well aware," I lied.
"You think that this is an opportunity to seduce your way into my life? But I am warning you early in advance. I don’t need anyone. You heard them, I am a lone wolf,"
I ignored his statement and pressed on, "What was the second reason you agreed to this marriage?" He stared at me and shook his head in disbelief at how I had just ignored his warning.
"I want to clear my name. I am not a murderer." Conri added.
"Freki had the same sentiments the last time we were in your cabin," I laughed.
"Freki?"
"My wolf. Who is now rolling in happiness since you spoke his name," I chuckled.
