Chapter 170: Second Defeat
Envi and I began to strategize. We didn’t have much time — we had to defeat Canis before he adapted to Envi’s attacks.
I came up with an idea to target Canis’s weak point. Envi would have to strike Canis when he was in the middle of absorbing my attack; perhaps at that moment, he would still be vulnerable to another blow.
Finally, I told Envi that I would give him a signal, and when I did, he must unleash his strongest attack. Envi agreed, and together we launched our coordinated assault on Canis.
Both of us activated [Future Sight] to read the trajectory of Canis’s attacks. We also boosted our speed with [Kasoseki 2X], which doubled our AGI stats. With random and unpredictable movements, we rushed toward Canis.
Canis summoned dozens of shadow wolves that immediately charged at us, trying to split our focus away from him.
They were quite troublesome due to their sheer numbers, but Envi and I both unleashed [Force Aura Level Supreme] and easily cut them down one after another.
By the time we realized it, Canis had already prepared his next attack. He once again used [High Dark Magic: Darkness Bomb Impact], launching a highly concentrated black magic orb directly at us.
"Damn it!" I cursed, wanting to dodge but being hindered by the shadow wolves.
At that moment, Envi dashed in front of me and blocked the attack with [Dark Magic: Veil of the Phantom], creating a shadow curtain to absorb the blast. However, the force still pushed him back. Immediately, I boosted my aura and unleashed [Blackmore Katana Style: Tenshō Kōsen, Full Burst!], sending a vertical aura slash at full power from a distance.
My attack successfully cleaved through Canis’s spell and destroyed it. Canis looked visibly irritated — not only had his attack failed, but all his summoned beasts had been defeated as well.
Furious, Canis charged at us, slashing with his claws and fangs, and attacking with his nine dark tails.
