Chapter 165: Assassination on Strong Hammer Military Base (IV)
Amara’s eyes were as sharp as needles. Her vital signs were so low that she barely had a heartbeat. The young woman’s soul was filled with nothing but absolute focus as she glanced at the massive military base on top of a large plateau.
Unless the Royal Guard was ready to scale hundreds of meters of rock, there was only one path into the military base—the northern wall. Her eyes narrowed as she saw the dozens of floating rocks around the area, all of them constantly illuminating the area and the dozens of angels and human soldiers patrolling the perimeter.
These floating rocks were special devices put in place by the angels, and the spies had already informed the Silent Wind Military Base about them, so they did not take the Royal Guard by surprise, but something else disturbed her.
The young woman couldn’t help but frown as she saw the enhanced activity around the wall. Usually, only ten soldiers monitored the walls during the night, yet now there were over thirty, most of them angels and all very powerful.
’Was I discovered?’ Amara immediately discarded that idea, as the detailed plan was something only members of the Royal Guard knew. Even if they had found out, it would make more sense to plan an ambush for her rather than reinforce security.
The young woman noted the fortified security but did not let it cloud her judgment. It would certainly make it harder to get in, but it also meant she would face less resistance once inside.
A frontal burst would end with the Royal Guard burst to smithereens, but her plan was something else. She took a deep breath, pulled two bottles from a space ring, and swallowed them. These were no ordinary potions, but Rank 2 Alchemy Potions named Superior Speed and Minor Invisibility, made by Jormungandr, especially for the young woman.
Immediately, a burst of power coursed through Amara’s body as her figure seemed to meld with the world around her. After the potions took effect, Amara channeled the strength of her Runic Set and Force, making shadows cover her figure. Her presence faded before flashing forward.
The Royal Guard dashed at a shocking speed, yet her steps did not make the slightest sound, and her movement did not disturb the flow of the air, making it seem as if she were moving in a completely different dimension.
