Chapter 2828: You’re Not Helping Me—You’re Helping Yourself!
Carson Flores reacted quickly, his body dropping swiftly, and he effortlessly placed the Mark of Life and Death on himself to conceal his vitality, then hid within the towering dense forest.
Hanging in mid-air, wasn’t that just painting a target?
Wasn’t it the man’s friend who wanted to escape from high above and then got attacked by the Leap Void Beast, becoming its food directly?
After Carson hid in the dense forest, he began to carefully observe his surroundings.
The surrounding topography, the dense forest, seemed no different from what he had just seen, but he hadn’t seen any fog or abnormality while in mid-air.
The fog was so vast; it was impossible that he hadn’t seen it.
Carson thought for a moment, turned around, and traced back the way he came, taking a step forward, his figure disappearing instantly.
The next second, Carson reappeared, looking at the fog ahead, and he gasped.
What the hell!
He had been flying normally, not fast, just abruptly stepping into this Mist World.
Turning his body, he stepped forward, covering a distance of at least hundreds of miles with that step, yet he was still in the Mist World!
This Mist World is quite tricky!
If the Mist World and the real world were connected, he couldn’t have advanced hundreds of miles and not left it, but reality said otherwise, which could only mean that Carson was in a different space than before.
The man said he fled close to the ground, losing his direction until some great change occurred, the Mist World cracked, and he escaped following the crack by chance.
Though not entirely sure, Carson guessed that this Mist World should have overlapped with the real world, seeming the same on the surface, but in reality, the area was no longer part of the real world. Once entered, unless the Mist World collapsed or a normal way in and out was found, it was very difficult to escape.
Things just got complicated.
Originally, Carson thought of escaping if he couldn’t fight, but now it seemed it wasn’t that simple; it seemed an exploration was necessary to understand the situation clearly.
Kaelithra Nixon provided a Space Bomb, not knowing whether it could shatter the Mist World, but Carson was not eager to test it yet.
Thinking for a moment, Carson summoned the Void Demon Beast, Theo.
Theo, upon appearing, felt the eeriness around, and immediately looked at Carson with displeasure: "What kind of trouble have you gotten yourself into now, in danger again?"
Carson explained the situation: "If we find the Leap Void Beast, and Zane’s injuries heal, then we’ll have another Quasi-Saint. Wouldn’t it be safer to go to the Crimson Immortal Domain? Otherwise, we’re so weak; what if someone takes a liking to you?"
Carson began drawing big pictures and linked the matter to Theo’s safety. Without this, how would Theo be willing to help?
Helping others and helping oneself are not the same!
Theo indeed got swayed, looking at Carson in surprise: "You actually have a Quasi-Saint with you?"
Carson laughed: "I know quite a few Quasi-Saints, True Sage Grand Void, The White-Feather Ink Lord, Norric Shepherd; each one is a top figure in the Immortal Realm. Senior Zane may not compare to them, but if his injuries heal, even encountering a powerful Quasi-Saint, if he can’t fight, he can still escape."
"In future, when we reach the War God Mansion and inquire about the whereabouts of your Void Clan, you’d be sure everything’s smooth, needing no help, as you are roaming out there, and your mother isn’t even a Starry Sky Beast..."
Carson’s words trailed off, but their meaning was clear.
You’re not a pure Starry Sky Demon Clan member. If you’re seeking your father, so be it, but if you want to find the Starry Sky Demon Clan’s Ancestral Territory and acknowledge your roots, they may not necessarily acknowledge you.
At that time, it’s not impossible you’ll need help.
Who could help you then?
Besides me, who else?
So your actions now may not just help me; they might very well be helping your future self!
Carson’s words clearly touched Theo’s heart. Although powerful, as a hybrid Starry Sky Beast, Theo had no confidence in whether the Starry Sky Beast Clan would accept it.
"Furthermore, we’re already here, trapped within; by making your move, you’re helping yourself too. We can’t live here forever, not to mention those here won’t allow anyone knowing their secrets to live."
Theo shook its head, eyes becoming more serious: "Alright, no need to say more, I’ll help you, but remember your words today. If I need help in the future, you can’t turn a blind eye."
Carson readily promised: "Of course, one must be loyal. You’ve helped me; as long as I can, I’ll surely help you!"
Theo replied: "Following you, when necessary, I’ll make a move."
With that, Carson felt much more at ease inside.
This godforsaken place, birds wouldn’t even poop here; there couldn’t possibly be a Quasi-Saint appearing.
With Theo by his side, he could confidently search for the truth.
Carson applied the Life and Death Art on Theo to conceal its life aura, then quietly moved forward.
Although his previous step didn’t lead out of this foggy space, Carson didn’t believe this area was that large, as it overlapped with the real-world topography.
Carson recalled the scene he saw from above—past the mountain at the front, a river cascaded down into a gorge below, the terrain relatively flat and open.
If someone wanted to do something here, this enormous, relatively flat, and hidden gorge would likely be the perfect spot.
Carson, together with Theo, advanced towards the gorge like a hunter moving through the jungle.
After walking a short distance, spiritual energy fluctuations suddenly came from above.
Carson’s strength far surpassed that of the man, and his perception was incredibly enhanced, so even though the fluctuations were heavily masked by the fog, Carson sensed it immediately.
Carson, with Theo, quickly hid under a recess of a large rock, and as soon as they were concealed, a huge figure seemed to appear out of thin air, breaking through the light fog, suddenly hovering over the forest.
With strength to rely on, Carson was unafraid, observing secretly; with just one glance, a gleam of joy appeared in his eyes.
Wasn’t this the Leap Void Beast?
How fortunate he was to find it right after entering!
Thinking about it, he considered himself rather lucky. The Leap Void Beast was incredibly powerful, comparable to a Great Land Immortal; most of those daring to venture here were ordinary cultivators, mostly below Immortals. With their strength, encountering a Leap Void Beast spelled certain death.
That man was certainly lucky too, not only possessing a magical treasure to hide his life aura but also encountering changes in the Mist World. Otherwise, he’d have met his end here as well.
Perhaps he wasn’t the only one to encounter the Leap Void Beast, but others entering this region likely hadn’t escaped, mostly becoming the Leap Void Beast’s blood food.
Carson’s gaze settled on the Leap Void Beast’s horn, pondering whether to make a move now.
